Serie A Fantasy transfer round-up

The transfer window is as active as ever but we are edging closer to the deadline. With this in mind we bring in one of our expert content creators @FPL_Crisk as he provides you the most significant deals and runs through the Serie A Fantasy round-up.

Staying up to date with the Serie A Fantasy transfer round-up could be vital ahead of the new season. Knowing which players have joined a new club, which players have left and the impact the moves could have could be key when building a team for the new season.

Napoli

Natan (€5m – Defender) – The reigning champions have been pretty quiet so far in the transfer window. However they could still make a move for a central midfielder (Cajuste is about to sign from Rennes to strenghten the bench, while Gabri Veiga is rumored to be very close).

Kim Min-Jae has left a hole in the defence and Napoli have reacted by filling it with new signing Natan. The Brazilian centre-back comes at a cheaper price than the other Napoli defenders and could become an option at some point. Due to him coming from a completely different context I would wait for him to establish himself as a starter before jumping on his bandwagon. He is a a “wait and see” kind of pick.

Inter

Frattesi (€6.6m – Midfielder) The former Sassuolo midfielder has been very productive in pre-season with a goal against CR7’s Al-Nassr and two assists vs PSG. Hopefully, he can find himself a place into the nerazzurri’s starting eleven sooner rather than later. Last year he ranked 14th between midfielders, his now teammate Barella (€8.0m – midfielder) only managed eight points more than him, and Simone Inzaghi’s playstyle seems to suit his traits very well.

I was also thinking of suggesting Thuram (€7m – forward), but Inter are still searching for another striker, which could make the Frenchman a little less tempting. His former ‘Gladbach teammate Sommer (€5m – goalkeeper) could also be a valid option to cover Inter’s defence without risking Dimarco being subbed before the final whistle.

Milan

Pulisic (€8m – Midfielder) and Chukwueze (€7m – Midfielder) – Milan were very active during this transfer window, especially in midfield. In Pioli’s new 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 hybrid both Chukwueze and Pulisic are set to cover the RW spot.

Pulisic has been playing in pre-season after signing early on in the summer. However, both players will share minutes sooner rather than later. When one of them establishes as the first choice winger, their friendly price (compared to their attacking potential) will make them a solid alternative to an otherwise essential Leao (€11m – midfielder). Other signings include Loftus-Cheek (€7m) and Reijnders (€5m), Okafor (€7m) and Musah (€5m) are far from nailed in terms of minutes.

Juventus

Weah (€7m – midfielder) – Juventus have been working with Chelsea to find a way to bring in Lukaku (a swap deal involving Vlahovic has been rumored). Should the deal go through I would be suggesting “Big Rom”. In the meantime, the US winger is an ok option. He has performed pretty well during the tour in his home country (one goal and one assist) against Milan and Real Madrid. But he’s been mainly used as a RWB in Allegri’s 3-5-2, so he is a little bit too far from the goal for my taste.

Always be aware that Juve have already got great options in midfield with the likes of Chiesa (€8.4m) playing as second striker, and Rabiot (€6.6m) and Kostic (€6.6m).

Lazio

Kamada (€8m – midfielder) – Lazio had the tough job of replacing Milinkovic-Savic (nine goals and eight assists last season). While that task is pretty much impossible, the Japanese midfielder is probably as close as it gets. He picked up nine goals and seven assists in Bundesliga last year. However, at Lazio he won’t be taking penalties when Immobile is on the pitch.

Lazio have an incredible pool of high scoring midfielders at their disposal with the likes of Felipe Anderson (€8.6m), Luis Alberto (€8.4m) and Zaccagni (€8m). All of which have shown to be able to share returns without making the others less valuable. Other than that Sarri’s team main focus is adding depth in attack – with the signings of Isaksen (£6m- Midfielder) and Castellanos (£6m – forward), but neither look to be viable at least short term.

Roma

Ndicka (€5.2m – defender) – Those who played last year already know how valuable Roma’s CBs were during the course of the season. And even those who didn’t can imagine how Mourinho’s “park the bus” style fits well this game’s point system which rewards clean sheets very well.

Smalling (€6m) and Mancini (€5.6m) have pumped up in price and Ibanez (€5.4m) is on his way to Saudi Arabia, making new signing Ndicka the cheapest way to safely cover Roma’s defence apart from Rui Patricio (€5m).

Roma also signed Kristensen (€4.4m) to add to the backline. However, he will have competition at RWB with Celik (€4.8m). It remains to be seen how advanced Aouar (€6m – midfielder) will play once both Dybala (€11m) and Pellegrini (€8m) are on the pitch.

At this moment in time Roma’s only striker is Belotti (€7m), because Abraham (€8m) has a long term injury. I expect the giallorossi to make a signing, with Zapata (€7.2m) and Marcos Leonardo rumoured to be on their radar.

Atalanta

Scamacca (€7m – forward) and El Bilal Toure (€5.6m – forward) – Atalanta have been very active during this window. Selling Hojlund to Man United has allowed the team to rehaul their frontline, with two new potential starters. I expect Scamacca to be the safest option out of the two, but with Lookman (€8.6m – midfielder) recently linked with Leverkusen I can see El Bilal becoming a cheap bargain in the future.

If the loan deal from Milan goes through, I would also keep an eye on De Ketelaere (€5.6m -midfielder) who has a lot to prove after a rough start to his Serie A career. I would personally avoid the more defensive signings like Bakker (€5m) and Kolasinac (€5.4m) since there are better and more nailed options in the backline. One of these options could be Carnesecchi (€4.4m – Goalkeeper). It seems that Musso (€4.8m) is considered first choice goalkeeper. However, Gasperini has shown last season he won’t hesitate benching him long term if he doesn’t perform at the required level.

Empoli

Caprile (€4.2m – goalkeeper) Empoli’s starting fixtures aren’t the best to say the least (facing Juve, Roma and Inter in three consecutive weeks from GW3 onwards). However, Caprile has the price and the potential to be a great backup goalkeeper for our teams all season long. With a history in Leeds’ academy, the 21-year-old had a stellar Serie B campaign last season with Bari which granted him a move to Serie A champions Napoli. Napoli then loaned him to Empoli where he’s going to replace Vicario.

Genoa

Retegui (6m – forward) – Retegui had some great seasons in Argentina, where he attracted the attention of Italy’s NT coach Roberto Mancini. He then granted him his first caps (and goals) for the Azzurri. Long time fans of Serie A are hopeful this signing can have the same impact of another striker signing with Genoa from the Argentinian League, Diego Milito.
