Serie A Fantasy top picks for Round 3

Italian League football continues and with that so does the fantasy football game. With that in mind we take a look at the Serie A Fantasy top picks for Round 3 with the help of our expert and regular contributor @FPL_Crisk.

The Twitter community is full of some of the best fantasy managers in the world so catching up with our experts top picks for Round 3 could be crucial. Knowing which players have the most potential could help confirm decisions in our own teams as we head towards the deadline.

Goalkeepers – Yann Sommer (€5.0m – 16.0%)

Inter is the only team yet to concede a single goal, with the Swiss player now leading the goalkeeper chart for points. Fiorentina is their most difficult fixture yet, but for the opposition that will be the fifth fixture in fifteen days, which could make it easier for Inter to control the game.

Lorenzo Montipò (€4.4m – 8.0%)

One could say Verona have been lucky to have a perfect record after two games in which they heavily overperformed and probably should have drawn or even lost. However, Montipò (only second to Sommer for points) tends to gain lots of points from saves. This could come in handy against their next opposition. Sassuolo are the team with the least xG, and seem to be creating low scoring chances.

Gleison Bremer (€5.6m – 20.9%)

Empoli are yet to score this season, and Juve’s defence have always performed really well in this game. Danilo was last years’ best pick due also to his absurdly high number of ball recoveries. This year none of the three starters has excelled on that in both games. Because of that I’m picking the one with the most threat in the box. Bremer is a menace on corners, both with his head and his ability to find himself in the right space at the right time.

Stefan Posch (€5.0m – 8.1%)

One of the biggest breakouts of last season, Posch is a very solid player, with nice attacking threat and one of the only fullback nailed to play the full game without the risk of being subbed. Bologna played extremely well against difficult opponents in Juve and Milan. With that in mind I am expecting a great performance at home against Cagliari who are yet to register a goal. In fact the shot with the highest xG for Cagliari in these two games had a value of only 0.10.

Midfielders – Lewis Ferguson (€5.0m – 2.3%)

Speaking of Bologna, the fixture against Cagliari should be very nice also from an offensive point of view. Ferguson leads the team for xG and shots. Last season he even managed to score seven goals. He plays just behind the striker Zirkzee, with their good chemistry showing in the goal against Juventus. His low ownership could be explained by the difficult starting fixtures but now he actually looks like a great differential pick for the immediate future.

Rafael Leao (€11.0m – 58.8%)

Roma conceded four goals already, and all of those were from attacks down the wings. They also are not the best at defending 1v1s against fast dribblers. Leao and Pulisic both look like potentially great options, with the American also being extremely in form. Nevertheless, this time I’m selecting the Portuguese. While against Bologna he didn’t look sharp, the Torino game has shown an improved Leao and I think this match can be the one where he finally manages to get on the scoresheet with more than just assists.

Forwards – Dusan Vlahovic (€9.0m – 18.2%)

Already two goals from him, with a third unfortunately ruled out for a Rabiot offside position on his shot. Despite constantly underperforming it looks like Vlahovic has started the season pretty well, and Juve are really the only “big team” with a very favourable fixture this week. This also makes the Serbian a viable captaincy option. Vlahovic is an easy inclusion into the top picks for Round 3.

Lautaro Martinez (€11.0m – 42.6%)

I have already spoken on how I think Fiorentina will be tired from their fixture congestion, and they have always been very shaky in defence, often being caught unprepared with their high line. In addition to that Lautaro leads the league on xG, despite not having taken a single penalty yet. His volume of chances is on another level compared to every other player in the league right now.
