Serie A Fantasy Round 5 Top Picks

Last modified date

The new season continues so we reveal the Serie A Fantasy Round 5 top picks. Regular contributor and Serie A expert @FPL_Crisk comes in to pick out two of the best players in each position for the new round of campaign.

It isn’t long before the new Gameweek commences. So, knowing which players have the most potential could be hugely beneficial. Getting off to a good start in every fantasy game is important for both rank and mini-league position.

Vanja Milinkovic-Savic (€6.2m – 18.1%)

A Player of the Match performance from the Serbian granted Torino another clean sheet and a much suffered point against Lecce. Vanja is now by far the highest scoring goalkeeper in the game.

Devis Vasquez (€4.2m – 6.1%)

Another goalkeeper who rightfully deserved the Player of the Match award. The Young Colombian could be having a breakout season at Empoli, with the next game away against a Cagliari side who haven’t scored in the last two games.

Defenders – Saul Coco (€4.6m – 15.0%)

Despite losing their best defender seemingly each season, Torino’s defence always keeps on performing very well. In the next Round they travel to Verona whilst most other good defensive teams have tricky fixtures to navigate (Juventus face Napoli, Inter will play in the Milan Derby, while Roma will host current top of the table Udinese).

Koni De Winter (€4.8m – 2.3%)

His last minute goal gifted Genoa a precious home point against Roma. Last year Gilardino and Genoa offered very decent defensive performances overall, and their next opponents (Venezia) have only scored one league goal and that was back in Round 1.

Midfielders – Daniel Maldini (€5.2m – 5.6%)

Monza can be hit and miss. The quality of the team is average at best, but they are always able to pull off great results from time to time. An example of this was the controversial draw against Inter (which could have been more for them). Bologna have had a terrible start to the season, especially at the back, and they will be tired from the UCL midweek fixture. Maldini is the most explosive player in Monza’s attack and could easily profit from Bologna’s weaknesses.

Ademola Lookman (€9.2m – 32.0%)

There were many doubts over Lookman after he missed the first few games due to transfer rumours looming over him. He shut the critics with a stellar performance against Fiorentina and with the next game being against Como, if he doesn’t get rotated he could have another consecutive haul.

Forwards – Mateo Retegui (€6.2m – 40.3%)

Retegui should be pretty safe from rotation, given Atalanta’s lack of classic centre-forwards. His start of the season has been nothing short of spectacular, and he could be an amazing pick for a Round like this with so many matches involving other premium strikers.

Boulaye Dia (€8.0m – 0.9%)

While I’m writing this, Castellanos is still considered a doubt for the weekend as his exams are planned for Wednesday after he got injured in the Monday night match vs Verona. Dia has scored two goals from two starts at CAM since joining Lazio, and if he moves to striker to replace Castellanos, he could really break Fiorentina’s defence.
