Serie A Fantasy Round 21 Top Picks

The new season continues so we reveal the Serie A Fantasy Round 21 top picks. Regular contributor and Serie A expert @FPL_Crisk comes in to pick out two of the best players in each position for the new round.

It isn’t long before the new Round commences. So, knowing which players have the most potential could be hugely beneficial. It could also help with other parts of the game including captaincy, chip strategies and long-term transfer plans.

Goalkeepers – Yann Sommer (€7.2m – 18.9%)

Serie A Fantasy Round 21 Top Picks

Last week he proved why he is the best pick out of Inter’s defence, since most defenders were only able to get one half-clean sheet due to substitutions. He has creeped back towards the top of the goalkeepers chart (only Vanja is ahead of him) due to his efforts. He is now an amazing set and forget goalkeeper for the rest of the season.

Ivan Provedel (€5.6m – 9.7%)

Lazio travel to Verona next, whose hometown team have gone a month without producing more than 1xG in a single match. Lazio will also have a boost with the returns of Romagnoli, Zaccagni and Castellanos, as they try to bounce back after a disappointing draw against Como.

Defenders – Oumar Solet (€4.4m – 0.0%)

Serie A Fantasy Round 21 Top Picks

Udinese picked up Solet on a free during the window in order to strengthen their back-three. The former RB Salzburg defender has carried his new team to two consecutive clean sheets, whilst also getting recognized as POTM last week against Atalanta. For that reason, I don’t think he’ll be dropped anytime soon. At 0% ownership, you won’t find anyone more differential than him. Jaka Bijol is also a safe option for 0.2m more.

Sam Beukema (€5.0m – 7.7%)

Serie A Fantasy Round 21 Top Picks

The Dutch defender seems to be the most nailed player from Bologna. He’s only missed one of their last 10 League bouts (this was written before Inter-Bologna. So, I suggest checking his minutes in that game after Wednesday). Monza have shown some improvement after appointing a new manager, coming close to a draw at Parma and winning on Monday vs Fiorentina. But I still think Bologna’s defence is good enough to be trusted for a minimum six points.

Midfielders – Mattia Zaccagni (€7.2m – 36.9%)

Fresh off suspension, he’s going to be back on the field vs Verona. I also don’t expect him to always be gifting penalty kicks to Castellanos, so he’s most likely bound to take the next one. Lazio’s fixtures are pretty affordable, so he can be a mid-long term option in midfield for most teams.

Alexis Saelemaekers (€6.6m – 1.8%)

Serie A Fantasy Round 21 Top Picks

Paulo Dybala is Roma’s best attacking asset in terms of underlying stats, but his price-tag of 12.2m makes him very hard to fit, especially when players like Pulisic and Lookman almost feel essential. Saelemaekers has almost already matched Dybala’s output playing barely half of the Argentinian’s minutes. For almost half the price and at extremely low ownership, he is a sensible way into Roma’s offensive line.

Forwards – Marcus Thuram (€9.4m – 65.7%)

Thuram was partially rested last week, and expected to play the full 90 mins this weekend. As long as Lautaro doesn’t turn his form around, Thuram will always be my pick out of Inter’s attack.

Roberto Piccoli (€5.0m – 3.4%)

Cagliari and Lecce have both conceded a lot of chances this season. But, with Cagliari playing at home, I give Piccoli the edge over Krstovic. The Italian’s xG/90 are also better than the Lecce forward’s. Although, he tends to be very inconsistent in front of goal, scoring screamers but missing big chances.
