Serie A Fantasy Round 21 Top Picks
We look to our expert @FPL_Crisk as he provides us with the Serie A Fantasy Round 21 top picks. Round 21 is a Blank Round so teams including Napoli, Bologna, Inter, Lazio, Atalanta, Torino, Fiorentina and Sassuolo do not have a fixture this week.
Before we take a look at who makes the cut this week, we need to highlight how important this article could be for managers. Knowing who the Serie A Fantasy Round 21 top picks are could be hugely beneficial when it comes to mini-league position and overall rank. That is because it can help with things like transfers and captaincy.
Goalkeepers – Wojciech Szczesny (€5.2m – 29.4%)
The last Juventus loss was at the end of September, and with Inter blanking they have a chance to go on top of the Serie A table. Their opponents Lecce, during the same time-period, have won just once. This is a good opportunity to invest in Juve’ defence.
Josep Martinez (€4.2m – 2.5%)
With most viable options in goal unavailable this Round (mostly due to the blank), my second suggestion falls to a cheaper option. Genoa are by no means a bad team defensively, being in the top half of the table for both GC and xG. Now they face bottom of the table Salernitana, who really seem to lack the quality necessary to save themselves from relegation.
Defenders – Theo Hernandez (€7.0m – 48.9%)
With Gabbia coming back to Milan, and Simic proving himself as a reliable option, it seems that Theo Hernandez can finally play as LB again. With a great haul from him against Roma, expect more to come from one of the best in the world at what he does.
Diego Llorente (€4.6m – 2.7%) / Dean Huijsen (€4.0m – 0.1%)
It has been a tough week for Roma. They lost against Milan, they sacked Jose Mourinho, hired an unexperienced De Rossi and, for their home game against Verona, they will lack both Cristante and Mancini due to suspension. Cheap options in Llorente and the wonderkid from Juve Huijsen will be pretty much forced to play. At least with Ngonge very close to a Napoli move, their job will be made a little easier.
Midfielders – Albert Gudmundsson (€6.0m – 17.5%)
Five returns in his last five games, and now he’s facing the worst team in the league. With most good options blanking, he’s really must-have this Round.
Rafa Leao (€11.2m – 65.2%)
Italian newspapers are doubting the Portuguese star because he hasn’t been on the scoresheet in Serie A since September. The last time he was heavily criticized he had a performance of a lifetime against PSG, let’s hope this is a good sign of things to come. Pulisic is obviously a more consistent pick as he also gets in better position to score, but we all know what Leao is capable of when he puts the necessary effort into it.
Dusan Vlahovic (€9.4m – 30.8%)
I recently called his return to form and damn I wasn’t wrong. He seems to have found a new confidence, managing six returns in his last four games.
Romelu Lukaku (€9.2m – 30.0%)
On the opposite side of Vlahovic’ form we have Lukaku. The guy is not in form and hasn’t scored in either of his last three Serie A matches. However, all these games were against very competent opponents (Juve, Atalanta, Milan), and we all know how much Romelu loves to do well against a weaker opposition. Verona will put up a good fight but my gut tells me that Lukaku is just as viable as Vlahovic. It’s not like we have much better options at forward since Inter, Bologna, Sassuolo and Torino are not playing..
