Serie A Fantasy Round 2 Top Picks

The new season continues so we reveal the Serie A Fantasy Round 2 top picks. Regular contributor and Serie A expert @FPL_Crisk comes in to pick out two of the best players in each position for the second round of campaign.

It isn’t long before the new Gameweek commences so knowing which players have the most potential could be hugely beneficial. Getting off to a good start in every fantasy game is important for both rank and mini-league position.

Goalkeepers – Mile Svilar (€5.0m – 23.1%)

Roma kept a clean sheet away at Cagliari and I have no reason to think they can’t repeat that this weekend when they host Empoli. Svilar is the highest owned goalkeeper in the game right now and for good reason.

Simone Scuffet (€4.6m – 2.1%)

Just like Roma, Cagliari kept a way more impressive clean sheet in the same game. Como, which they face in Round 2, are the team who produced the least amount of xG (only 0.17), so I feel like Cagliari could keep up their defensive form. Also, despite being away from home, Como won’t have the homefield advantage as the game takes place in Verona while they wait for their stadium to be Serie A ready.

Defenders – Cristiano Biraghi (€5.2m – 16.5%)

Many players who did very well in Round 1 also have a great fixture in Round 2. Biraghi is definitely one of them. Venezia conceded three goals to Lazio, and the Italian fullback (but playing WB) will be on most set pieces. He could also be on penalties while waiting for Gudmundsson to recover from an injury.

Andrea Cambiaso (€5.4m – 15.1%)

Juventus this season lack a bit of squad depth, which could suggest that, at least whilst there is no UCL football around, the fullbacks could play 90 minutes more often than not. Even with Danilo as a sub, I can see Motta subbing Cabal first and moving Cambiaso on the left for the rest of the match.

Midfielders – Riccardo Orsolini (€8.0m – 9.8%)

Napoli were awful against Verona, the 3-0 result wasn’t even that harsh. On the other hand, Bologna underperformed a little bit, only scoring one penalty goal despite registering over 3xG. With Cambiaghi injured, Orsolini should be as nailed as it gets despite Italiano’s heavy rotation and he could punish Napoli once more.

Andrea Colpani (€6.0m – 17.0%)

As I said before, Gudmundsson is dealing with a small injury which could take him out at least for Round 2. In that case Colpani is the Fiorentina midfielder to get in order to profit from their Venezia fixture. The former Monza player also had the only Fiorentina big chance of the game in Round 1.

Forwards – Marcus Thuram (€8.6m – 14.6%)

We were all waiting for Lautaro, instead the real player to watch was Marcus Thuram. The French striker appears to be in great form after scoring a brace in the first Round and could be a great option waiting for Lautaro to find his groove back.

Mateo Retegui (€6.2m – 17.7%)

Many doubts were casted on Atalanta with both Koopmeiners and Lookman uncertain of their future at the club. Instead Retegui proved he could be the last in a long list of players made great by Gian Piero Gasperini’s coaches. As of now he is the most reliable (and cheapest) way into Atalanta’s always performing attack.
