Serie A Fantasy Round 18 Top Picks
We look to our expert @FPL_Crisk as he provides us with the Serie A Fantasy Round 18 top picks. Round 17 saw wins for Inter, Fiorentina, Juventus and Lazio. We also saw a huge clash between Roma and Napoli with a 2-0 victory to the home side.
Before we take a look at who makes the cut this week, we need to highlight how important this article could be for managers. Knowing who the Serie A Fantasy Round 18 top picks are could be hugely beneficial when it comes to mini-league position and overall rank. That is because it can help with things like transfers and captaincy.
Top Picks – Goalkeepers – Yann Sommer (€5.6m – 24.5%)
He’s just become the highest scoring player in the game. In fact he overtook the spot from his injured teammate Lautaro Martinez. Sommer has conceded just one goal in the last five matches despite some tricky fixtures (like Juventus away, Napoli away and Lazio away). He can also be fully considered a captaincy option from now on.
Wojciech Szczesny (€5.2m – 29.3%)
The last Serie A game of 2023 will see Juventus hosting Roma. Both sides are known for having coaches more focused on the defensive and psychological aspect of the game. Because of that I can see a low scoring game happening very easily.
Defenders – Stefan Posch (€4.8m – 8.1%)
While he’s not scoring as much as last year, he’s still a solid choice this season due to his incredible defensive work from Bologna. He’s now played five full games in a row, going twice in double-digits, and comes at a cheaper price than both Beukema and Skorupski.
Giorgio Scalvini (€4.8m – 27.9%)
It’s a lunch match at home for the young centre-back. I feel like Lecce are a little bit uninspiring going forward, which should help Scalvini in getting a decent amount of points. He isn’t afraid to go forward to press either, which led to an assist vs Salernitana, and was close to a return other times. With Milan and Napoli both dealing with injuries at CB, Scalvini could become even more of a template pick.
Cyril Ngonge (€5.0m – 4.5%)
Verona’s talisman has three double digit hauls in the last five games, and during the two blanks he still managed to get a solid five-pointer. He will be playing at home against Salernitana, the worst defensive team in the league, and they will still be missing their first choice goalkeeper Ochoa.
Domenico Berardi (€10.8m – 30.8%)
Milan is one of Berardi’s favourite opponents to score against. Sassuolo are a much worse team than AC Milan, but there are a few things going in favour of the Italian winger. First of all, Milan just conceded two against bottom of the table Salernitana, with their RW Candreva ending up hauling. Most importantly Milan lack all of their main CB options leading to a more vulnerable backline.
Giovanni Simeone (€6.8m – 1.4%) and Giacomo Raspadori (€6.8m – 6.4%)
Monza are in a little bit of a crisis. In the last five games they are the worst team for xG and second worst for xGC. With Osimhen and Politano suspended these two guys will most certainly get a lot of minutes to make an impact. Monza tend to concede lots of goals from the middle of the area, making Simeone a better option. But Raspadori is cheaper and the better player this season and could move to the middle in the second half of the game.
Joshua Zirkzee (€5.2m – 26.2%)
He is one of the surprise players of this season. Zirkzee is keeping up with the best strikers in the game at an absolute steal of a price. His last two rounds were blanks, but in the middle he had the Coppa Italia game vs Inter where he got two assists in just more than 30 minutes. Overall five points per game from a striker at such a cheap price has enough upside to forgive the Dutch striker if he occasionally blanks.
