Serie A Fantasy Round 17 Top Picks
The new season continues so we reveal the Serie A Fantasy Round 17 top picks. Regular contributor and Serie A expert @FPL_Crisk comes in to pick out two of the best players in each position for the new round.
It isn’t long before the new Gameweek commences. So, knowing which players have the most potential could be hugely beneficial. Getting off to a good start in every fantasy game is important for both rank and mini-league position.
Goalkeepers – Marco Carnesecchi (€5.4m – 5.0%)
Most have doubled up on Atalanta’s explosive attack which means that Carnesecchi is extremely differential, despite ranking amongst the highest scoring goalkeepers in the game. He had a great Man of the Match performance vs Cagliari and he’s not likely to be troubled by Empoli.
Yann Sommer (€7.0m – 17.4%)
Old reliable Sommer is always a good pick if you have enough budget and want to double up on Inter without risking any rotation. After an easy clean sheet away at Lazio, a home game against Como doesn’t seem like the worst for another game without conceding.
Defenders – Giovanni Di Lorenzo (€7.4m – 50.6%)
The big news this week is that Buongiorno fractured two vertebrae and will be out for at least a month, which makes Di Lorenzo a must have. Napoli also do not blank in Round 19, which means that most teams should have Di Lorenzo + Rrahmani/Lukaku by then (as Kvara is also injured at the moment).
Federico Gatti (€5.4m – 13.0%)
He had his first seasonal goal against Venezia, which helped him haul despite two goals conceded. Cambiaso is still a doubt for this weekend, with Thiago Motta hopeful of having him back, but even then I wouldn’t think he gets a full 90 minutes. For this reason, I’m still backing Gatti as the best Juventus defender for one more week.
Midfielders – Rafael Leao (€11.4m – 44.8%)
Leao stays on the list despite a poor performance against Genoa. Next up is Verona, who recently won at Parma, but still conceded two proving themselves to be somewhat leaky at the back once again.
Hans Nicolussi Caviglia (€4.6m – 0.9%)
Differential pick of the week. The Juventus academy product is impressing this season playing at CM for Venezia, scoring three goals and providing two assists, with most returns coming in the last 6-7 matches. Venezia are playing at home vs Cagliari, which is far from the worst fixture.
Forwards – Marcus Thuram (€9.4m – 60.6%)
Just like every other season in Serie A Fantasy, there are very few strikers who can be considered reliable picks from Round to Round. Thuram is definitely the best one: 11 goals, four of which came in his last three matches. An in-form striker with a very good home fixture is always a good sign.
Roberto Piccoli (€5.0m – 2.0%)
Venezia v Cagliari is actually a great fixture for both teams, and it could go either way. Piccoli is massively underperforming on his xG (four goals from over nine), which means he at least gets chances consistently. Also, in their last match CM Razvan Marin was not a starter, and when that happens Piccoli is the designated penalty taker.
