Serie A Fantasy Premium Players

In this article we take a look at the Serie A Fantasy premium players. We bring in our Serie A expert and regular Serie A Fantasy contributor @FPL_Crisk to talk through the most expensive players in the game and who, if any, could hold the most potential.

Premium players are some of the most important players in the game. This isn’t because they’re expensive but they are usually the most consistent and reliable assets to own. Premium players are also extremely significant for captaincy too.

Goalkeepers

Defending the title of last season’s top scorer in the game is Yann Sommer (€7.0m). He will be able to rely on Inter’s consistency as the Serie A Champions’ predicted line-up will likely stay the same. His premium price shouldn’t scare new players, as overall defenders and goalkeepers have (rightfully so) become more expensive.

Juventus were a defensive powerhouse last season. Lots has changed in fact, but overall new signing Michele Di Gregorio (€6m) seems to be the best option in his price bracket. This is because Lazio and Ivan Provedel (€6.0m) could struggle, while Milan’s Mike Maignan (€6.0m) has been very injury prone during the last few seasons.

Defenders

Danilo (€6.6m) and Gleison Bremer (€7.0) have consistently been the best defenders to own. Allegri was obviously a defensive minded coach. But we should also underline how Thiago Motta can also do a great job if not better. In fact last season Bologna collected one more clean sheet than Juventus (17 vs 16), so a double up on the Brazilian’s could be a consideration.

Inter’s options are always good, but rotation could be a problem. Federico Dimarco (€6.6m) is often substituted in the second half of matches. This means he tends to miss out on second half clean sheets. Franseco Acerbi (€6.0m) will have competition from Stefan De Vrij (€5.6m) after a solid EURO 2024 from the Dutch. Denzel Dumfries (€6.0m), Matteo Darmian (€5.4m) and Benjamin Pavard (€6.0m) all often share starts. Alessandro Bastoni (€6.6m) is probably the most nailed out of them.

Milan’ Theo Hernandez (€7m) is maybe a bit overpriced but he has guaranteed minutes and is the most offensive fullback in the game.

Conte will probably do very well at Napoli. We all know he is a good defensive coach. For that reason, Giovanni Di Lorenzo (€6.6m) and Alessandro Buongiorno (both €6.6m) should also be considered.

Midfielders

Only three midfielders cost more than €10.0m: Paulo Dybala (€11.6m), Rafa Leao (€11m) and Khvicha Kvaratskelia (€11m) are all great players who I expect to score big. With Lukaku not at Roma anymore, Dybala should be nailed on penalties too. This probably makes him the best pick out of the three.

The Atalanta couple of Ademola Lookman and Charles De Ketelaere (both €9m) is more of a wait and see to me. This is primarily because the signing of Nicolo Zaniolo (€6m) and the great end of the season of Gianluca Scamacca (€8.0m forward) will cause minutes to be shared until they find a clear hierarchy.

Christian Pulisic (€9m) remains a great alternative to Leao, but I’m curious to see whether this season Samuel Chukwueze (€6m) will give him more competition.

Hakan Calhanoglu (€9m) relies a lot (maybe too much) on penalty kicks to get goals, while I will wait on considering Teun Koopmeiners (€8.6m) until his future is clearer (as he’s likely to leave Atalanta, probably for Juventus).

Forwards

Lautaro Martinez (€12.0m) will remain a very popular pick as he’s the standout forward to own. Last season no other player scored more than 20 League goals. His partner Marcus Thuram (€8.6m) is a cheaper way to access Inter’s attack. But, Mehdi Taremi’s signing (€7.0m) could steal minutes from the French striker.

Victor Osimhen (€10m) is obviously a good option. But, it remains to be seen whether he will stay at Napoli. In case he’s sold, his spot will likely be filled by Romelu Lukaku who costs less and has a great track record under the coaching of Antonio Conte.
