Blank Gameweek 19
Despite Serie A yet to announce any postponed fixtures, I am confident in treating Round 19 as the biggest (if not only) blank of the season.
Round 19 takes place during the first weekend of January 2025, the date in which FIGC (the Italian FA) have already planned for the Italian Super Cup to take place.
The four teams involved in the competition would have to miss the Serie A weekend, similar to last season. This then leads to the following three blank fixtures: – Atalanta vs Juventus – Como vs Milan – Inter vs Bologna.
It remains to be seen when the double Rounds may take place. It will likely depend on the European campaigns of the selected teams. Here are my preliminary thoughts:
There are two free midweeks in January, after Round 19 and after Round 20. I would exclude the former, since it would be too close to the Super cup final (Monday, Jan 6th). It would also be awkward to organize without knowing which team would reach said final. The latter could be more likely. The midweek after Round 26 would be free of any Cup competition (no Coppa Italia, no UCL) and would be a very safe one to accommodate the stray fixtures.
After this date every midweek until May could be occupied if Italian teams advance through the cups. The other February midweeks would also be free for teams that finish in the top eight of the UCL League Phase.
Should anything new be announced (even the official blank announcement from Serie A itself), we will be make sure to provide you with the updated news.
