Serie A Fantasy First Draft

In this article we take a look at a Serie A Fantasy First Draft. Serie A expert and regular contributor @FPL_Crisk comes in to share his team, reveal some rationale behind all of his player picks and highlight some decisions he is yet to make.

Our Serie A Fantasy first draft could be extremely useful for both new managers and experienced managers. Crisk has his finger constantly on the pulse when it comes to Serie A so checking out his draft could be extremely enlightening and bring clarity to our own teams.

First Draft

Goalkeepers

The first name in my team sheet was Zion Sukuzi from Parma. With prices for most defensive players going up, I wanted a cheap reserve goalie and the Japanese international at €4.0m is a perfect fit for me as he also plays for my hometown team.

The main goalkeeper slot is still in contention between Svilar (currently in my team sheet) and Sommer. I prefer the Swiss, but I am €0.4m short to get him. Roma have a great initial run of fixtures so I wouldn’t mind starting the season with Svilar, given that Roma is also one of the very few teams that will not need to adapt to a new manager (having confirmed De Rossi).

Defenders

The defence is the backbone of our Serie A Fantasy team. Thus, I have no problem investing in as many premiums as I can.

Bremer was amazing last season and I still trust Thiago Motta to maintain their defensive form (despite them just conceding three in a friendly against Nürnberg). Theo Hernandez is just so offensive, and Buongiorno is the most reliable pick out of Napoli (who will benefit a lot from Conte coaching them).

Martinez Quarta and Djimsiti complete the defence, as they are in my mind two of the best picks for just above €5.0m. No filler picks here.

Midfielders

Having spent a lot in defence, I can only afford one premium pick in midfield. This leads me to Paulo Dybala, who has great starting fixtures and will be by far Roma’s talisman (and penalty taker). Old reliable Frendrup was an amazing filler pick last season, and €0.4m more will not prevent me from going for him.

Zaccagni feels to me slightly under-priced at €7.0m, as he will be key for Lazio this season (there are rumours of him becoming captain, or at least vice-captain).

Yildiz will likely be a starter for Juve, massively under-priced too despite his lack of returns last season. The final spot, now occupied by Tchaouna is a placeholder when I will be more sure of Lazio’s starting line-up, as there are many options in that price-bracket (Isaksen, Castrovilli, Guendouzi) who could prove themselves very useful if given the chance.

Forwards

Lautaro remains a must have this season, and he’s my last over €10.0m pick.

I tend to trust defenders much more, and I don’t think I will play more than two forwards most of the time, so Scamacca is my second starting striker. Especially at the start of the season, I want someone that I know was reliable last season. The Italian striker had a great period March-May, and Gasperini still being the coach makes me more reassured.

Last pick, once again, is from my hometown team. Bonny is absurdly cheap, and besides that I really think could end the season with 5+ goals, especially since he might take a couple of penalties (he shares with Benedyczak who is not nailed).
