Introduction
Welcome back to my Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 24. Here, I pen down my thoughts about the team, my transfers if any. I also cover my captain for each upcoming GW.
Now, back to the article. Looking at GW22 first, I got 86 points with a GW average of 52 points. It was yet another small green arrow again that took me from 337th to 230th worldwide. I am also still 3rd in Germany after GW23.
The stars of the GW for me were Oliver Giroud who ended the GW with 12 points and Paulo Dybala who scored a brace at home and finished the GW with 15 points. But I also had the captain armband on Dybala and he ended up with 30 points.
We will have our first double GW in Serie A Fantasy in MD24 with Bologna and Fiorentina each having two fixtures.
I plan to use at least one of my transfers to bring in another DGW asset and then save transfers for the bigger DGW in GW26.
Round 24 Team Reveal (subject to change)
Goalkeepers
- Yann Sommer (€5.8m) – Sommer is back in goal after yet another sensational performance for Inter. In the last round he kept his 14th clean sheet in 23 matches. Sommer has been by far the most reliable GK in Serie A this season both in terms of security of starts and source of consistent points. He currently sits atop the list of GKs with the most points after GW23. He also has 10 double-digit hauls to boast in just 23 GWs. Even though Inter have a relatively tough fixture vs Roma, I still expect Sommer to have a good GW with decent saves.
Defenders
- Gleison Bremer (€6m) – My first defender in GW24 will be Bremer from Juventus. He currently sits at the top of the defenders list with the most points for defenders. Even though Juventus were beaten last week vs Inter, they have some amazing fixtures coming up in the next next GWs. Bremer could bring in a lot of points during this period.
- Stefan Posch (€4.6m) – My second defender is going to be Stefan Posch. He is one of my transfer-ins this week given he has a double GW vs Fiorentina and Lecce. This time last year Posch was being talked about as one of the best attacking RBs/RWBs in Serie A. Even though his form has dipped this season, I expect good point returns during these two fixtures.
- Lucas Martinez Quarta (€5.4m) – Another player I bought in the last round with this Double GW in mind was Quarta but he was taken off at HT. I wouldn’t be too worried about his xMins given he has played the most so far out of all of the Fiorentina defenders. He has three goals to his name so far and has been one of Fiorentina’s mainstays. If Italiano decides to play him in both fixtures, I do expect a good amount of points in DGW24.
Midfielders
- Paulo Dybala (€12.2m) – Dybala was back doing what he does best in GW23 with a decisive brace to help Roma get a thumping win over Cagliari. Roma will need him to fire if they want to stand a chance against league leaders Inter in GW24.
- Albert Gudmundsson (€6m) – Gudmundsson has been one of the league’s revelations this year with nine goals and two assists in just 23 games for Genoa. He has transitioned from a CAM/LW to an ST role this year because of Retegui’s recent injury problems and he has embraced the role. He sits second now in the most points list for midfielders in Serie A Fantasy and at just 6M, he is an absolute bargain.
- Morten Frendrup (€4.4m) – My cheap enabler is Frendrup. He has racked up 121 TBIs in just 23 games which is the highest in the league by 28 TBIs. He will be up against Atalanta in GW24 and I expect a load of TBI points again at the very least.
- Andrea Colpani (€5.4m) – My second cheap enabler is Colpani for this GW when Monza plays a hapless Verona at home. At just a 5.4m price he already has seven goals and one assist in 23 starts in a good Monza team who have had to face the likes of Juventus, Napoli, Milan, and Inter in the last few GWs. A peculiar fact about Colpani is that he has scored all seven of his goals this season at home. That is what I am hoping for when he gets another opportunity to showcase his talent at home.
- Nico Gonzalez (€6.4m) – One of the most annoying (from a fantasy perspective) yet talented players is Nico Gonzalez from Fiorentina. The Argentinian has sometimes been the bane of my existence given how unpredictable his output is. Partly to blame is the manager Italiano who keeps rotating him. On his day Gonzalez can be one of the best players in Serie A. That is what I am again hoping to see in DGW24. He has six goals and one assist in just 974 mins of action.
Forwards
- Oliver Giroud (€9m) – My first playing forward for GW24 will be Oliver Giroud. He was back to his normal form getting a goal and an assist in Milan’s win over Frosinone. Giroud now has 11 goals and eight assists in 22 starts for Milan. He will want to get on the score sheet yet again in GW24 when Milan face Napoli at home.
- Joshua Zirkzee (€5.2m) – Another player of the season so far in Serie A has been Zirkzee. He now has eight goals and three assists in 23 games. Bologna have a good run of fixtures but importantly, Zirkzee has a DGW this GW against Fiorentina and Lecce and is easily in the captaincy conversation.
Captaincy
At the moment of writing this article the armband is currently on Zirkzee for reasons I have mentioned above. Nico Gonzalez and Gelson Bremer are also in the running for captaincy as things stand.
