Introduction
Welcome back to my Serie A Fantasy expert team reveal for Round 18. Here, I pen down my thoughts about the team, my transfers if any, and my captain for each upcoming GW.
Looking at GW16 first, I got 68 points with a GW average of 53 points. It was a small green arrow again that took me from 1.3K to 1K worldwide and now 7th in Germany after GW17.
The star of the GW for me was Yann Sommer who scored 11 points. There are some good fixtures to target in GW17 for Inter, Lazio and Napoli.
Round 18 Team Reveal (subject to change)
Goalkeeper
- Yann Sommer (€5.6m) – He hit another double-digit return in GW17 making it 12 clean sheets in 17 matches. Sommer has been by far the most reliable GK in Serie A this season both in terms of security of starts and source of consistent points. He currently sits atop the list of GKs with the most points after GW17. He also has a huge nine double-digit hauls to boast in just 17 GWs.
Defenders
- Giovanni Di Lorenzo (€7.2m) – I did expect some return from Di Lorenzo in GW17 but it was not to be as. Last week he finished with five points as Napoli lost again to Roma. Napoli will play Monza at home in GW18 and there is a high probability Di Lorenzo can keep a clean sheet so I will be starting him again in GW18.
- Theo Hernandez (€6.8m) – My second defender for GW18 will be Theo Hernandez from AC Milan. Theo is slowly starting to show why he is the second most expensive defender in this game. I really hope he continues his form in the upcoming games. He scored nine points in GW16 with a clean sheet at home vs Monza in a 3-0 win. Even though he scored only one point in GW17, I still expect him and Milan to bounce back.
- Gleison Bremer (€5.8m) – My third defender in GW18 will be Bremer from Juventus. I transferred Bremer in a couple of GWs ago and he has not disappointed. He currently sits at the top of the defenders list with most points ahead of Tomori. With Danilo back in the line-up again, it will only strengthen the Juventus defence. It also increases the potential for many clean sheets. Juventus have Roma visiting them in GW18.
- Danilo (€6.2m) – My fourth defender in GW18 will be Danilo from Juventus. He is back fully fit after a long injury layoff and immediately looked on it in GW16 and GW17. When he is on the pitch he is the mainstay in the Juventus backline contributing not just via defensive actions but getting some goal contributions in the process. I like the double-up in the Juventus defence and hope they can provide a lot of fantasy points moving forward.
- Giorgio Scalvini (€4.8m) – My 5th defender in GW18 will be Scalvini from Atalanta, my transfer this GW. He has a good run of matches coming up with games against Lecce, Udinese and Frosinone which should hopefully end up in a haul of points. Scalvini sits on the top of the list for TBI with 75 and I expect him to again grab a few extra points.
Midfielders
- Morten Frendrup (€4.4m) – My cheap enabler is Frendrup. He is quietly going about his business at least from a fantasy perspective. Frendrup now has racked up 96 TBIs in just 17 games which is the highest in the league by 27 TBIs and gives owners that no matter what he can always get anywhere between 5-7 points every GW. He will be up against Inter in GW18 and I expect a load of TBI points again at the very least. Frendrup is also one of the few MIDs who has played every single minute of the season.
- Domenico Berardi (€10.6m) – Berardi ended up playing no minutes in GW17 as he fell sick but he should in back in the line-up for Sassuolo in GW18. Berardi will again be one of my midfield players for GW18 after his 12-point haul in GW16. Putting the captaincy on him turned out to be the right decision in the end. That week he got two penalties and converted them both. He will again look to build on that performance in GW18 when he plays Milan who are one of his favourite opponents. He has 11 goals against Milan over the years and I won’t be surprised he gets on the score sheet again.
- Cyril Ngonge (€5.0m) – My second cheap enabler is Cyril Ngonge for this GW when Verona takes on Salernitana at home. He now has 46 points in the last five GWs so he is in great form leading up to GW18. At just a 5m price he already has five goals and two assists in 16 start. I expect him to keep going with his form in the coming GW against Salernitana at home.
Forwards
- Oliver Giroud (€8.8m) – My transfer in the last GW for Lukaku was Giroud from AC Milan and he ended up with one assist in GW17. Giroud now has eight goals and five assists in 13 starts for Milan sharing the Talisman duties with Leao. He will want to get on the score sheet again in GW18 when Milan hosts Sassuolo. I expect him to do well over the Christmas period. He can also be a viable option for captaincy this week.
- Ciro Immobile (€10.4m) – Immobile will complete my line up this GW. He Lazio faces Frosinone at home and I will be disappointed if Immobile is not on the score sheet in this game. He still only has one outfield goal to his name in 12 starts and would love to change that as soon as possible. Immobile has looked good in recent weeks, especially in the Champions League game where he came on and helped Lazio secure their passage through to the R16.
Captaincy
At the moment of writing this article it is currently on Ciro Immobile for reasons I have mentioned above. Yann Sommer and Domenico Berardi are also in the running for captaincy as things stand.
