Serie A Fantasy Budget Players

In this article we take a look at some Serie A Fantasy budget players in each position. We bring in regular contributor and Serie A Fantasy expert @FPL_Crisk to highlight all of the best cheap gems ahead of the new season.

Our experts Serie A Fantasy budget picks could be hugely important for managers. Cheap players can be absolutely vital when it comes to fitting the more expensive players into our first drafts. Cheap players can also be some of the best assets in the game if you can find the right ones.

Goalkeepers (€5.0m or less)

If fantasy managers still want a first team goalkeeper from the better half of the League, the best options are Mile Svilar (€5m) from Roma and Pietro Terracciano (€4.8m) from Fiorentina. The Roma goalie averaged 6.8 pts/90 last season, and while it’s still far from Sommer’s eight pts/90, it’s still a pretty good return.

Another good pick at a similar price is Lecce’s Wladimiro Falcone (€4.8m) who was in last season’s top five goalkeepers in terms of total points.

The best overall budget option to me appears to be Parma’s Zion Suzuki (€4m). It seems that the developers didn’t think he would start and priced him lower than the other newly promoted sides’ players (Como’s Pepe Reina and Venezia’s Jessie Joronen both come for €4.4m. Myself being from Parma, I am pretty sure the Japanese international’s destiny is to be a main player for the team. He is an absolute steal, as there are no other starting goalkeepers for the same price.

Defenders (€5.0m or less)

First things first, defence has been the top position in Serie A Fantasy in the last two years, so don’t be shy in investing here. Still, there are viable budget players here too, even from top teams.

Atalanta could be selling Berat Djimsiti (Danso is a top target), and with Giorgio Scalvini out for a while, Isak Hien (€5m), who had a great end of the season, could be the backbone of their defence at the start of the season. Matteo Ruggeri (€4.6m) comes at a lower price and plays LWB, but he’s not guaranteed to play the full duration of the match.

A similar argument can be made for Napoli’s Leonardo Spinazzola (€5m), who is also injury prone but very offensive (could do wonders under Conte). The cheaper alternative is new signing Rafa Marin (€4.6m), who will likely be at RCB.

Fiorentina, now playing a more defensive back-3 under Palladino, offer a couple of CBs in Luca Ranieri and Marin Pongracic, both valued €4.8m.

Torino, on the other hand, feel difficult to predict. Last season they had the second best number of clean sheets, but now they have changed manager, sold Buongiorno, released Ricardo Rodriguez, and Perr Schuurs (€4.8m) is still injured and could still be months away from a start. If you want to still bet on them, they have cheap assets in Adam Masina and Saul Coco, both priced at €4.4m.

A couple of other interesting names are Emil Holm (€4.4m), wanted by Italiano at Bologna after a good season for Atalanta, and Alberto Dossena (€4.6m) who played Cagliari last season and now playing for Como.

Midfielders (€6.0m or less)

Some low-budget gems in midfield have remained from last season. The ball recovery king Morten Frendrup (€5m, but Genoa could sell him), Atalanta’s Ederson (€5.4m) who impressed in the first stint of the season, and the DGW hero Bryan Cristante (€5.2m) who will now compete for minutes with new-signing Le Fée (€5m).

One big surprise in the pricing comes from Juventus. Last season doubling on their defenders felt like a must. This season Kenan Yildiz (€4.8m) starting at LW makes the argument to also have a Juve attacker.

Newly promoted clubs tend to have their assets priced lower. Last season Soule broke out at Frosinone, so who will be the Soule of this year? Gabriel Strefezza (€5.2m) already knows Serie A very well, and his set pieces are always dangerous.

Another option comes at Como’s left wing, Lucas Da Cunha (€4.6m). Gaetano Oristanio (€4.6m) had a good season at Cagliari and could be a very important player for Venezia. Serie B winners Parma haven’t changed a lot, so their team should be a well-oiled-machine. Hernani (€4.8m) is having a great pre-season, while talisman Dennis Man (€5.4m) impressed at the EUROs for Romania.

Another player who impressed for Romania was Razvan Marin (€5m), who plays at Cagliari and is on set pieces. Verona also have a couple of solid attacking options in Darko Lazovic (€4.6m), Abdou Harroui (€4.8m) and Tomas Suslov (4.8m).

Bologna’s Nicolo Cambiaghi (€5m) and Monza’s Daniel Maldini (€5m) are also attacking players with lots of quality.

Lazio have changed manager and are a bit of a question mark in terms of who they will field in their 4-2-3-1: Matteo Guendouzi (€5.4m) and Gaetano Castrovilli (€5.6m) could share the CAM position, while Loum Tchaouna (€5.0m) can play at RW.

Forwards (€6.0m or less)

With forwards usually being a bit underwhelming in Serie A Fantasy, I think it is very important to have at least one budget pick we feel ok benching, but also being capable of getting a 6-9 pointer from time to time.

A lot of names who could fit the description come for an affordable €6m price. Last year Bologna had Zirkzee, this year they have Thijs Dallinga. Mateo Retegui could find more continuity this season at Genoa, and the same can be said for Lorenzo Lucca, who had an ok end of the season at Udinese.

Joel Pohjanpalo feels less reliable (I wouldn’t trust Venezia’s attack), but his international experience could prove itself important. Going down in price, we find a former FPL option in Che Adams (€5.6m), who recently joined Torino.

Zito Luvumbo an Nikola Krstovic (€5.4m) showed glimpses of brilliance last season and this year they will get the chance to nail the CF spot of Cagliari and Lecce respectively.

Moise Kean (€5m) seems to be the striker of choice for Fiorentina. At that price even if he doesn’t perform as hoped it could be worth the risk.

Sebastiano Esposito (€4.6m) debuted almost five years ago for Inter, and after a few very good Serie B spells he returns to Serie A for Empoli.

If you want to go as cheap as you can get while still expecting your striker to play, the best options as of now seem Parma’s Bonny (€4.4m) and Verona’s Mosquera (€4.4m).
