Serie A Fantasy 2024/25 First Draft

In this article we take a look at another Serie A Fantasy first draft. We previously saw @FPL_Crisk’s draft but this time we bring in Fantasy Football whizz @FPLReaction to share his first draft and talk through why he has picked the players he has.

Our Serie A Fantasy first draft could be super helpful. As the season approaches it is important we know which players to invest in, who could have potential, the best teams to target and more. This will then help you make decisions within your own teams.

First Draft

Goalkeepers

Inter won Serie A last season and I think they could do it again. Defensively they were ahead of a lot of teams. Rotation is an issue in the Inter defence but one way around that is Yann Sommer (€7m). I like the fact they have increased his price this season but that hasn’t put me off.

I have gone for Zion Suzuki (€4.4m) at Parma. He’s first team between the sticks but I’m not sure I will need him. He is there regardless just in case.

Defenders

Napoli have three very easy fixtures in their first four matches. They seem to be playing with a wing-back system in pre-season with Di Lorenzo playing at RCB but new signing Leonardo Spinazzola (€5m) at wing-back. I think he could be a gem at his price especially when considering how attacking he is.

Based on how good the Juventus defence was last season I think it’s safe to say you need at least one defender. In my case I have gone for the cheapest/most reliable in Danilo (€6.6m). He probably should have been 7m but either way I will be there. I may even go for the double up in defence eventually.

Roma have better starting fixtures than anyone according to our fixture ticker. For now Chris Smalling (€5m) is just a placeholder until I decide on which Roma defender I want. I’ll be monitoring Roma closely during pre-season.

It is a similar situation with Lazio to be honest. At the moment I have gone for Adam Marusic (€5m) but he is a placeholder. I want a Lazio defender either way so Marusic could well become another Lazio defender.

There are some horrible fixtures in Round 3 and this is where a Bologna defender could work wonders for their fixture against Empoli at home. I like the Bologna defence after their impressive season last time out so for now I have gone for the cheap Charalampos Lykogiannis (€4.4m). He is also a placeholder for now.

Midfielders

The Lazio fixtures are too good but they are going through multiple changes during the summer. With Anderson and Immobile gone we could see Gustav Isaksen (€5m) become key in attack and at that price he could be a gem.

I genuinely don’t know how I have fit in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (€11m) into this draft but I have. The fixtures are great for Napoli and it looks like he is going to stay for another season at least. I think we could see a much better campaign from him this time around.

One player who I am unlikely to leave out is Paulo Dybala (€11.6m). Roma have very very good fixtures so going without Dybala is not what I want to be doing. He is also a good captaincy option.

Milan have mixed fixtures in their first four but they also play two promoted sides so buying into their attack seems like a wise thing to do. I have gone for a player who served me very well last season, Christian Pulisic (€9m).

To enable this very expensive team I need enablers and one of the best in the business is Morten Fendrup (€5m) who did exceptionally well for additional points last season. If he gets and assist or goal you know he’s coming away with a big haul as well.

Forwards

Lautaro Martinez (€12m) took some debate but for now he’s in. I don’t actually think I’ll be desperate enough for budget that I will need to cut him loose and he’s always a very good captaincy option. It is frustrating that he comes off early but his ownership is always too big to leave out.

I have gone super cheap in the forward line. I don’t massively rate the forwards in this game in comparison to defenders so the frontline is much less of a priority. One player who could be a shoo-in for many though is Moise Keane (€5m) who will likely spearhead the Fiorentina attack this season.

My third striker will likely never play but that depends on how good he can be for Parma this season. They do have some great fixtures in the first six rounds and Ange-Yoan Bonny (€4.4m) will start so we’ll see how he does.

Additional Notes

There is obviously going to be a lot of movement in defence as I have placeholders. The best Roma and Lazio defender to pick will become clearer as pre-season plays out. I also may want to fit in another Juventus defender.

Lazio attackers will also be interesting and will definitely be keeping an eye on Zaccagni as well as Isaksen.

If I need money and a lot of it then I could look to Kvaratskhelia as I’m not completely convinced but we’lll see.
