Race for the Golden Boot and FPL
Players who are in the run in for key Premier League awards at the end of the season can be great FPL investments. With Mo Salah leading the race for the Golden boot, we take a look at what this means for FPL managers. Should FPL managers invest in players who are in the hunt for the Golden Boot, Golden Gloves and assists leader?
The Golden Boot trophy is given to the player who scores the most goals in a Premier League season. Alongside the Golden Boot there is also a Golden Gloves award for the most clean sheets as well as an award for the playmaker who created the most assists.
Mo Salah is currently leading the way in the race for the 2021/22 Golden Boot
- Mo Salah 22 goals
- Son Heung-Min 17 goals
- Cristiano Ronaldo 16 goals
- Diogo Jota 15 goals
- Sadio Mane 14 goals
- Harry Kane 12 goals
With four Gameweeks to go until the end of the season the race for the Golden Boot will likely go down to the final week of the season. Therefore should FPL managers prioritise investment in these players?

Overall
All the players in the top six have four games left to play this season, with the exception of Ronaldo who blanks in Gameweek 37. The players in the hunt for the golden glove also all have Premier League incentives for their teams to score goals. The three Liverpool players are trying to secure the Premier League title, meanwhile Kane, Son and Ronaldo are trying to ensure Champions League football next season. This additional motivation is good for FPL managers to invest in.
