Nottingham Forest Top Picks for FPL 2024/25

Last modified date

Fantasy Premier League has launched for another season. For that reason we continue to cover each team in the build up to the start of the new campaign. In this article we take a look at the Nottingham Forest Top Picks for FPL 2024/25

Picking out the Nottingham Forest top picks for FPL 2024/25 could be really helpful for managers. There could be one of several teams with the potential to offer some great value for money assets this season, so let’s see what we can find.

Nuno Espírito Santo took over a struggling Nottingham Forest during the last campaign and he just about survived his return to the Premier League. In fact, his side finished one place above the drop zone and six points ahead of 18th place Luton.

24/25 Starting Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see Nottingham Forest rank seventh on the ticker with matches against Bournemouth, Southampton, Wolves, Liverpool, Brighton and Fulham.

Nottingham Forest Defence

Nottingham Forest struggled in parts of the season defensively but they maintained several very good defensive metrics, ranking (best):

  • 15th – Goals conceded
  • 5th – Expected goals conceded
  • 17th – Clean sheets
  • 5th – Shots in the box conceded
  • 8th – Total attempts on goal conceded
  • 5th – Shots on target total conceded
  • 3rd – Total big chances conceded

Comparing the Nottingham Forest Defensive Assets

When comparing the Nottingham Forest defensive assets we can see that Murillo (£4.5m) eclipses his teammates for gametime with 2787 minutes.

Left/right-back Ola Aina (4.5m) managed 1698 minutes which was just ahead of right-back Neco Williams (£4.5m)

There was evident rotation with the goalkeepers as Matt Turner (£4m) played 1530 minutes and Matz Sels (£4.5m) played 1440 minutes.

When we compare attacking threat there was little between their defensive assets. Harry Toffolo (£4.5m) was effective with his gametime after banking five attacking returns. Meanwhile Willy Boly (£4.5m) was just one goal contribution off top spot with four.

Also amongst the returns was Murillo with two, that number was also matched by Aina.

Conclusion

There doesn’t appear to be much between the Nottingham Forest assets in terms of attacking threat. Rotation between the sticks and squad depth at full-back could make the centre-backs more favourable. In that case it’s Murillo who stands out after playing more minutes than any other defender.

Those looking to be more aggressive could opt for Ola Aina who edged Neco Williams for both minutes played and attacking threat.

Monitoring the goalkeeper situation could be worthwhile during pre-season as well.

Nottingham Forest Attack

Nottingham Forest impressed when it came to several key defensive metrics but they fell short in attack, ranking (best):

  • 17th – Goals scored
  • 15th – Expected goals scored
  • 15th – Total attempts on goal
  • 17th – Shots in the box total
  • 12th – Big chances total
  • 17th – Total shots on target

Comparing the Attackers

When we compare the Nottingham Forest attackers we can see that midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.5m) played more minutes than any other attacker with 3166.

Winger and in-game midfielder Anthony Elanga (£5.5m) managed to play 2488 minutes whilst central midfielder Ryan Yates (£5m) played the third most minutes.

Winger and in-game midfielder Callum Huson-Odoi (£5.5m) played close to the 2000 minute mark whilst striker Chris Wood (£6m) was just short of him with 1886 minutes.

Morgan Gibbs-White sits top of the pile when comparing the attackers for goal contributions after scoring five goals and creating 12 assists.

Interestingly Wood played much less minutes than Gibbs-White but still managed a cool 15 attacking returns. One short of Wood is Anthony Elanga who produced 14 returns.

Callum Hudson-Odoi was the only other player to hit double-digits with 10.

Impressively, striker Taiwo Awoniyi (£6m) played just over 1000 minutes due to injury and still racked up nine attacking returns.

Conclusion

There is a clear standout pick in the Nottingham Forest frontline. Penalty and set piece taker Morgan Gibbs-White edges his attacking teammates for both minutes played and goal contributions which makes him their best option.

None of the other attackers have shown enough reliability for gametime. However, both Antony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi have started four of their five pre-season matches so far. Elanga started five matches more than the latter last season which could give him the edge.

The rotation between Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi is a concern. Awoniyi has just returned from injury and has already featured in pre-season. It could be worth monitoring both in terms of minutes as either could be a good option.

Nottingham Forest Top Picks

After comparing all players for both minutes and attacking potential the Nottingham Forest Top Picks for FPL 2024/25 are:

  • Morgan Gibbs-White
  • Murillo
  • Ola Aina
  • Anthony Elanga
  • Callum Hudson-Odoi
