Notable Player Price Changes

With FPL now live for the 2023/24 season managers will have some big decisions to make. Here we round up the notable player price changes for the new game.

There have been many player price changes for the new season. Here are some of the key changes:

Price Rises

There were a number of key price rises for the 2023/24 on the back of excellent seasons in the previous campaign. Erling Haaland (£14.0m) is the most notable price rise. The Man City forward is now tied first as the most expensive FPL player in the game. Previously Robin van Persie, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry have been listed at £14.0m. Haaland’s 36 goals in 36 games ensured that his price rose £2.5m on his £11.5m price tag in 22/23.

The second highest scoring FPL asset in the game last season was Harry Kane (£12.5m). The Spurs man registered 263 points from 30 goals and nine assists. As a result his price has risen by £1.0m on last seasons starting price.

Marcus Rashford (£9.0m) had an outstanding season in 22/23. The Man United midfielder started at £6.5m and has now risen to £9.0m. That £2.5m price rise comes on the back of 17 goals and seven assists in the 22/23 campaign. Of the midfielders only Mo Salah (£12.5m) scored more goals than Rashford last season.

Kieran Trippier (£6.5m) has also seen his price jump for the new season. The defender was priced at £5.0m for the start of last season and has now risen by £1.5m to £6.5m for 23/24. His 198 points last season was more than any other defender in the game. Trippier was also second for attacking returns amongst defenders with 10, only Trent Alexander Arnold (£8.0m) registered more with 13. Like Trippier, Alexander-Arnold has also risen in price to £8.0m, that is a £0.5m rise for the Liverpool man.

Price Falls

Alongside key players rising in price for the new season there have also been some key price reductions. If these players have good seasons they could offer exceptional value for money.

Tottenham’s Son Heung-min (£9.0m) explained that he had been carrying an injury all season which required surgery while on international duty with South Korea. As a result of a season where the midfielder registered just 16 attacking returns, way less than his Golden Boot campaign in 21/22, his price has dropped by £3m. Son was £12.0m in 22/23 and is now £9.0m for the 23/24 season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) had an injury plagued season last time around. The forward made just 15 starts for Everton. As a result his price has dropped by £2.0m for the 23/24 season. Calvert Lewin started the 22/23 campaign priced at £8.0m, however registered just two goals and one assist.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) was priced at £10.0m ahead of the start of the 22/23 season. The Man United midfielders price has fallen by £1.5m for the start of the new season. Despite being second for expected assists (xA) last season, only Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m) was expected to create more, Fernandes registered just nine assists. He also only managed eight goals. If Fernandes can refind the form he showed during the 21/22 season he could be exceptional value this time around.

Chelsea had a difficult season last year. As a result almost all of the Chelsea assets have had a price drop. Raheem Sterling (£7.0m) has dropped by £3.0m for the new season. This is the cheapest that Sterling has been in the game since 2013/14 when he was a Liverpool player.
