Taking a look at the most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 8 can be hugely enlightening for fantasy managers. Knowing who the majority are selecting within their sides can help you make moves in your team ahead of the eighth round.
Note: Ownership statistics will inevitably change throughout the week.
1. Erling Haaland – 73% Ownership
Erling Haaland (£15.4m) remains the most selected player in the game with 73% ownership. The Manchester City striker has a lovely fixture after the break against a Wolves side who have shipped at least two goals in all but one of their matches so far.
2. Cole Palmer – 49.5% Ownership
Pushing Mohamed Salah out of second place and gaining 10% ownership in a week is Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (£10.8m). This was likely due to his huge 25-point haul against Brighton in Gameweek 6. Palmer faces a tough away game against Liverpool this week so his potential could well be limited.
3. Mohamed Salah – 39.3% Ownership
Falling into third is Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) with 39.3% Ownership. The Egyptian goes into his next match against Chelsea having managed at least a return in all but two of his matches so far. Chelsea have failed to convince from a defensive perspective so Salah could have potential.
4. Luis Diaz – 36.7% Ownership
Luis Diaz (£8.1m) keeps his fourth spot after maintaining his ownership. The Colombian started the season exceptionally – bagging a double-digit haul in two of his first three matches. A home match against Chelsea this week could be a good opportunity to add to the five goals and one assist he has already produced this season.
5. Bukayo Saka – 33.2% Ownership
Pushing his teammate William Saliba out of the top five this week is Bukayo Saka (£10.1m). Saka has another brilliant opportunity to return this week as he clashes with Bournemouth. The Cherries are yet to keep a single clean sheet this season and Saka has returned in all but one of his games so far.
The Rest of the Top 10
Filling up the sixth and seventh spots are Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya (£5.6m) and centre-back William Saliba (£6m). Bournemouth have failed to score in both of their matches against tough opposition this season which could suggest clean sheet potential for the Arsenal duo.
Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) and Tottenham’s Pedro Porro (£5.5m) both feature again. Alexander-Arnold faces a Chelsea side who sit top for goals scored so far whilst Porro has a lovely home fixture against an out of sorts West Ham.
Breaking into the top 10 most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 8 is Ollie Watkins (£9.1m). He replaces the Fulham midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe who sat in the same position last week. Watkins goes into the game off the back off securing at least one goal contribution in his last four matches.
