Most Popular FPL Picks for Gameweek 29

In this article we take a look at the top 10 most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 29. Using the Official Fantasy Premier League ownership data we can find out who the fantasy football community are picking ahead of the new round.

Taking a look at the most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 29 can be hugely enlightening for fantasy managers. Knowing who the majority are selecting within their sides can help you make moves in your team ahead of the new round.

Note: Ownership statistics will inevitably change throughout the week

1. Mohamed Salah – 72.6% Ownership

Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) may have gained another 0.2% ownership, but FPL managers will have to come up with a plan for him this week. Liverpool don’t have a fixture in Gameweek 29, which is far from ideal, and could force the community to either bench or sell the in-form midfielder.

2. Cole Palmer – 59.2% Ownership

Form hasn’t been at Cole Palmer‘ (£11m) side recently. The Chelsea penalty taker has produced just one goal contribution in his previous six league matches, and this would have contributed to his continued decline in ownership. Although having a fixture in the Blank seems like a major benefit for him, Palmer still faces an in-form Arsenal defence.

3. Alexander Isak – 56.6% Ownership

Gaining in ownership, even after missing his sides Gameweek 27 clash due to injury, is Alexander Isak (£9.4m). Similar to Mohamed Salah, Isak also faces a Blank Gameweek in the round ahead. This could see his ownership plummet as we reach the deadline.

4. Chris Wood – 44.8% Ownership

Holding his fourth position in the top five, Chris Wood (£7.2m) could well be one of the most desirable targets for FPL managers this week. Wood is one of few players with a great fixture, and in excellent form. Facing Ipswich this week, who rank joint worst for big chances conceded, is a massive opportunity for him to continue his form.

5. Bryan Mbeumo – 41% Ownership

Another player likely to rise in appeal is Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1m), who also has a fixture in the Blank ahead. Brentford come up against a ropey Bournemouth defence, and Mbeumo heads into the meeting after returning in both of his previous two outings.

The Rest of the Top 10

Most Popular FPL Picks for Gameweek 29

Increasing in popularity since Gameweek 28, Trent Alexander-Arnold is another player who doesn’t have a fixture this week. The driving force behind his rising popularity was probably due to his previous clash against Southampton. However, with no fixture this week, his ownership could decrease rapidly.

Gaining around 1% ownership since the previous round is Justin Kluivert. The Dutchman has a promising meeting against a leaky Brentford defence, and heads into the game after returning in two of his previous three fixtures.

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel has gained more managers over recent weeks. Two clean sheets in the previous two matches suggests Arsenal remain a top defence to invest in. A match against Chelsea could be limiting for the Brazilian, but he also poses a threat offensively.

It may just be a matter of time before Nottingham Forest full-back Ola Aina (£5.3m) sneaks out of the top 10. That may be put on hold this week though, as his side clash with Ipswich, one of the worst attacks in the league statistically.

Bursting ahead of David Raya and returning to the top 10 after a short absence is Erling Haaland. With a at least one return in his previous five matches, the Manchester City forward goes into the match against Brighton in top form.
