Taking a look at the most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 23 can be hugely enlightening for fantasy managers. Knowing who the majority are selecting within their sides can help you make moves in your team ahead of the new round.
Note: Ownership statistics will inevitably change throughout the week
1. Mohamed Salah – 70.3% Ownership
Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) suffered his first blank since Gameweek 7 during his Gameweek 21 fixture against Nottingham Forest. That doesn’t seem to have made any impact on his ownership, as he remains the most popular asset in the game. The Egyptian could have huge potential this week as he faces a poor Ipswich defence.
2. Cole Palmer – 68.6% Ownership
Oddly, Cole Palmer (£11.4m) has lost some ownership since the previous round, even after securing a 10-point return in three of his previous four matches. This could be due to how inconsistent Chelsea have been recently. Palmer has an epic clash with his former club Manchester City this week, who have been inconsistent defensively as of late.
3. Alexander Isak – 57.5% Ownership
Racking up the ownership week on week, and keeping his place in third ahead of Gameweek 23 is Alexander Isak (£9.4m). This week could be a mammoth opportunity for the Newcastle talisman and penalty taker, as he clashes with the worst defence in the league next, Southampton.
4. Chris Wood – 39.7% Ownership
Chris Wood (£7m) takes over Bryan Mbeumo in fourth this week. The Nottingham Forest penalty taker has gained an additional 5% in ownership this week. This could be mostly due to both his recent fixture against Southampton and his overall form. Up next for Wood is Bournemouth, which could see Wood add his 14th goal of the campaign.
5. Bryan Mbeumo – 32.8% Ownership
Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m) may have slipped into fourth, but his ownership may increase in the build up to the deadline. Mbeumo has been excellent this season and sits third overall for FPL points due to that. He takes his form into a fixture against Crystal Palace, just after having to face both Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Rest of the Top 10
Losing around 0.2% ownership, Erling Haaland (£14.8m) appears to be on the decline again. This comes even after scoring three goals in his previous three matches. Chelsea have been poor defensively recently, so the Norwegian could well get amongst the goals this week.
Keeping their places among the top 10 is Arsenal trio, goalkeeper David Raya (£5.6m), and centre-backs Gabriel (£6.4m) and William Saliba (£6.3m). All three options could well pick up a return this week when taking into account they face Wolves at home.
Breaking into the top 10 for the first time this season, and pushing out Trent Alexander-Arnold is Ola Aina (£5.3m). Nottingham Forest have collected four clean sheets in their last five games and Aina has both benefitted and contributed to that.
