In this article we take a look at the top 10 most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 18. Using the Official Fantasy Premier League ownership data we can find out who the fantasy football community are picking ahead of the new round.

Taking a look at the most popular FPL picks for Gameweek 18 can be hugely enlightening for fantasy managers. Knowing who the majority are selecting within their sides can help you make moves in your team ahead of the new round.

Note: Ownership statistics will inevitably change throughout the week

1. Cole Palmer – 63.9% Ownership

Most Popular FPL Picks for Gameweek 18

Sitting as the player with the highest ownership in the game currently is Cole Palmer (£11.2m), who edged out Mohamed Salah over the last week. The Chelsea talisman and penalty taker has been crucial towards the Chelsea goals this season, and he faces London rivals Fulham at home this week.

2. Mohamed Salah – 63.7% Ownership

Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) has slipped into second place, probably due to the price difference between him and Palmer. The Egyptian has racked up a mammoth 10 double-digit hauls this campaign, and that form is expected to continue this week as Liverpool clash with promoted side Leicester at home.

3. Bukayo Saka – 44.5% Ownership

Maintaining his position in third is Bukayo Saka (£10.6m). Arsenal have been short of goals recently – scoring just one between Gameweek 15-16. This seems to have had a negative effect on their penalty takers form. The Gooners face Ipswich this week, one of the worst teams in the league for several key defensive metrics. So, we could see both Arsenal and Saka back amongst the goals again.

4. Erling Haaland – 37% Ownership

Dropping another 3% ownership over the last week is Manchester striker Norwegian striker Erling Haaland (£14.9m). Haaland has found the net just once in his previous five league matches. However, a home meeting with Everton next could be the opening he needs to recapture some of his relentless early season form.

5. David Raya – 31.1% Ownership

David Raya (£5.6m) is another player who keeps his previous position, but only just. The Arsenal goalkeeper has been instrumental towards keeping an impressive three cleans sheets in the previous five matches. With Ipswich at home this week, we could see the Spaniard continue his good recent form.

The Rest of the Top 10

Arsenal centre-back William Saliba (£6.3m) moves up into sixth place ahead of Gameweek 18. As well as keeping three clean sheets with his side recently, the Frenchman has also shown he can be a goal threat from set pieces.

Bursting into the top 10 in just the last week, and shooting up to seventh is the in-form Alexander Isak (£8.8m). The Newcastle frontman has scored in each of his previous three games. This week he comes up against an Aston Villa side who have conceded at least two goals in five of their last seven matches.

As we can see, there isn’t much between Isak and Chelsea’ Nicolas Jackson (£8.3m) ahead of the new round. The latter has also produced some great form recently – bagging four goal contributions in his last four league games. The fixture against Fulham suggests he has a good chance to add to that form.

Slipping slightly in terms of ownership is Tottenham’ Pedro Porro (£5.6m). The full-back failed to start in Gameweek16, but still came on and banked six points for his clean sheet against Southampton. Nottingham Forest away in the round ahead could prove limiting to his potential based on their form this season.

Completing the top 10 this week, Bryan Mbeumo (£7.6m), has increased in popularity slightly, which may be a surprise to many. Recent goals against the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle suggests he could have no trouble against a leaky Brighton defence in the round ahead.
