- Clean sheet hunting could be tricky once again this week. On paper, Columbus have a favourable home matchup against DC United. However, they may rotate following their midweek CONCACAF Champions Cup (CCC) fixture. Also, at $7.6m, Patrick Schulte is slightly too expensive even for my budget. I’ve therefore opted for the cut-price option of Yohei Takaoka from the early games. Stefan Frei will be my late-game fallback.
- Seattle have arguably the best clean sheet odds this week. So I’ve paired Frei with Alex Roldan and Takaoka with Ranko Veselinović. However, the latter will likely make way for Ryan Raposo should he start on Saturday.
- Elsewhere in defence, I like the offensively minded DeAndre Yedlin and Mohamed Farsi, who is a cheap route into the Columbus back line (again, depending on rotation). Tahir Reid-Brown is my one and only scrub for now.
- Round 7 looks to be a better week for midfielders. LAFC and LA Galaxy face off in El Tráfico on Saturday, which has historically seen multiple goals. I’ve therefore loaded up on players from that game, with Joseph Paintsil and Riqui Puig making the cut in midfield. Although LAFC’s set-piece maestro Eduard Atuesta is also in my thoughts.
- With two goals and 14 bonus points in four games, Evander is a lock in my team. This is the case with Lucho Acosta despite a couple of subdued performances in recent weeks. Ryan Gauld is the final piece of a Vancouver triple up, as they face a Toronto side that looked poor without Lorenzo Insigne.
- As with other spots in my team, my forward line may change depending on whether the CCC teams rotate. I currently have Cucho Hernández and Luis Suárez, with two of Willy Agada, Christian Benteke and Gabriel Pec primed to come in should Columbus and/or Miami rotate.
- My final forward spot is occupied by Denis Bouanga. He, like Puig and Paintsil, is locked in my team and will likely be my captain this week.

- For those new to FMLS, one of the highest goal-scoring matchups in the entire league is El Traffico, LAFC vs. the LA Galaxy.
- I have stacked myself with five players from that game: Puig, Paintstil, Atuesta, Joveljic and, my captain, Bouanga. This should be a high-scoring affair and all these players can pop off.
- I don’t like many of the clean sheet odds this week. The best option, in my opinion, is Seattle hosting Montreal at home. Right now I have Frei, A. Roldan, and Ragen as part of that defence.
- I have Freese and Martins on my bench for an early CS shout. Atlanta will be without Giakoumakis and X. Silva which hurts their attacking abilities a decent amount (though if I’m being realistic, I don’t feel great about NYC’s chances).
- Driussi is taking on a really rough San Jose side dealing with suspensions and injuries and if last week shows anything, he should have plenty of BPs coming his way. His boom/bust potential is a perfect bench play this week.
- While NYRB has historically done well at limiting play makers like Acosta, they seem to have fallen off their former defensive prowess. This matchup feels perfect for him to do well. But because of my commitment to El Traffico, I’ve decided to keep him on the bench.
- Jake Davis and Willy Agada are my two Sunday players. Davis is more of a place holder that I am hoping to scrub if my bench does well (same with one of my two Sounder defenders). Agada, though, has been lights out since replacing the injured Johnny Russell in the line-up. Portland have been giving up plenty of chances to teams so I expect him to do well this week.

- 82 Points and a green from 1358 to 1202 in Round 6 thanks to the ATL crew and Arango.
- It will be interesting to see how the bench does or if I end up having to stick with SKC defence against Evander.
- Captain is up in the air, I think is Cucho in training this week, I will still have watch line-ups here.
- I like Charlotte to get their first road win this week, will be waiting for Abada to be added to the game.

- DEF: Brooks Lennon (ATL; 8.4): Brooks Lennon contributed an assist and a clean sheet in Atlanta’s 3-0 win in round 6. He’s in a good spot to turn in another big game at against New York City. Considering Lennon serves up the occasional set piece, he can rack up both attacking and defensive points if the stars align.
- MID: Evander (POR:10M); Evander is high for shots in the last couple of games and has a decent matchup vs SKC. He has hit 26 points in his last three games and I see him continuing his form.
- FOR: Denis Bouanga (LAFC; 10.4m); 2023 MLS Golden Boot winner Dénis Bouanga has 24 points in last two games. He has fired off over 22 shots over the last six games. I’m banking on Bouanga to continue his form in El Tráfico.
