Notes
- I like Columbus’ chance of a clean sheet this week even if they rotate, so have gone with Patrick Schulte as my primary ‘keeper. At only $4.0 million, Oscar Ustari will likely continue as my fallback as long as he keeps his place in the Inter Miami starting XI.
- In defence, I have paired Schulte with Yevhen Cheberko, who has amassed three passing bonus points in each of his first two games.
- Matthew Edwards and Jamar Ricketts are value plays with an outside chance of a clean sheet, while Yeimar is my defender of choice from the Seattle-LAFC game. I can see that game being a 0-0 stalemate and schedule wise it allows me to preview Yeimar’s score before deciding whether to stick or twist.
- Providing they start, Lucho Acosta, Evander and Telasco Segovia are all likely to be chalk picks in midfield this week given their form and fixtures.
- Segovia, in particular, is a great budget enabler.
- The other two midfield slots are where you can differentiate, depending on your budget. Miguel Almirón has already put up 11 points despite only one attacking return in his first two games, and I’m expecting he and Osman Bukari to do well this week given their matchups.
- Upfront, Lionel Messi is still in my team and wears the captain’s armband until we get more concrete news about his availability.
- Tai Baribo and Christian Benteke are both on a tear at the moment and could easily score double digits again this week. The same is true of Petar Musa, who is also in contention for a forward spot in my team

- I think the best team to target for a clean sheet this week is Portland. Their attack seems to be struggling and Nashville’s back five at home should be able to keep them out.
- I like Orellano’s upside this week against Toronto. I currently have Ricketts as a price rise option, but he’s someone I’m most likely pivoting away from once line-ups drop.
- For some of the same reasons I like Meyer and Willis, I like Hany’s matchup a lot against Portland.
- Both Bukari and Gutierrez have matchups against suspect defences so I want them as well, but as bench plays.
- Bukari specifically is someone I’m willing to pivot away from as well.
- Segovia and Messi are both players I want, but am more than happy to pivot to other Miami players depending on the line-up.
- My favourite matchup this week is Dallas hosting Chicago. I have the captain armband on Lucho for this reason and Musa was the first name on my team. I think they can score 3-4 goals.
- My third forward spot is up for debate. I currently have Baribo but I want to be able to afford Benteke. We’ll see if my tinkering (or Messi’s potential injury) gets me up to him.

Notes
- Building value is still important so I’m looking at low priced with points in the bank.
- Gauld played 90 minutes midweek so I need to pay attention to line-ups on the weekend for Van, Miami, Columbus etc.
- There is some value in SEA and LAFC who have an early match which can lead to a scrub strategy.
- SD are yet to concede a goal but may be lucky to get a 3rd, there is still good value in their defence.
- I will monitor Messi and can pivot to Suarez or Zaha but that match will be really interesting.
- Biel has two returns in two and looks good behind the FC front line.
- Kahlina may get scrubbed if Van can hold off Montreal.

Notes
- MID: Omer Valenica (New York Red Bulls, 5m): Valencia is playing wing-back position and even got an assist last week.
- FWD: Messi (MIA; 10.4M); Lionel Messi is a must-have player when he’s in the match day squad. The GOAT won the Landon Donovan MVP last season and I feel he’s essential to have in your team.
- MID: Gauld (Vancouver Whitecaps FC, 9.5m): Great matchup vs Montreal and playing at home makes him a good option to buy this week.
- MID Evander (Cincinnati, 9.1m); Good fixture against Toronto and the stage is set for Evander to rack up big score in Round 3.
- FWD: Benteke (DC; 9.3m); Benteke has a great game this round and has already started the season strong.

Notes
- In goal, I’m currently looking at Schulte on the front end with a home matchup against a struggling Houston Dynamo side.
- Oscar Ustari is once again my backup due to his price.
- In defence, Kai Wagner is a lock for me this week due to his offensive production which he’s already shown in his first two outings with two assists.
- I might also consider Westfield with his 4.3 price tag and I fancy Philadelphia’s chances of keeping a clean sheet away to New England.
- There’s a plethora of midfield options this week, Lucho Acosta faces a leaky Chicago side so he was an easy inclusion. As was Martin Ojeda who’s been on fire to start this season.
- I’m also looking at Ryan Gauld, Christian Espinoza and Telasco Segovia.
- In attack, Christian Benteke has continued his 2024 goal scoring form with a goal in each of his outings in 2025, I’m expecting him to continue that run of form with another couple of goals against a struggling SKC side.
- Russell-Rowe is another player who’s started 2025 with goals in each of his two league outings.
- My final forward is Alonso Martinez as I think NYCFC vs Orlando City will have a lot of goals in it.
