  • I’m looking to spend as little as possible on goalkeepers this week as I feel money is better spent elsewhere. As it stands, I’m running Daniel as my only goalkeeper (Xavier Valdez is a scrub); with Stefan Frei likely still out. He could be downgraded to Andrew Thomas or upgraded to Andre Blake depending on how I need to redistribute funds.
  • I’m also looking to minimise spending in defence. At $6.0, Dylan Nealis looks to be the cheapest route into the Red Bulls back line. I feel he’s worth the outlay this week with a home game against Chicago .
  • My other defenders this week – Emeka Eneli, Nathan Harriel and Kevin O’Toole – are all value plays with reasonable clean sheet chances. Eneli is playing out of position in midfield. He should be a lock in most teams. Kieran Sargeant is my only scrub for now.
  • In midfield, I’ve gone with four premium options – Cristian Espinoza, Emil Forsberg, Thiago Almada and Lucho Acosta. They have shown decent bonus point production in the first two weeks of the season.
  • Diego Gómez is a cheap fallback. He can be scrubbed if all of my bench plays are successful. Talking of bonus point production, Riqui Puig is also in my thoughts. However, Nashville are defensively solid at home and getting the LA Galaxy midfielder would require me to downgrade Lionel Messi.
  • Upfront, Cucho Hernández and Chicho Arango are locks in my team, with Cucho likely to take the captain’s armband.
  • At the time of writing, I have Messi in my squad, although that may change depending on how many minutes he plays in Inter Miami’s midweek CONCACAF Champions Cup fixture.
  • Denis Bouanga is primed to replace Messi if I feel he’s likely to be rotated at the weekend.
  • If you are determined to take Messi no matter what, I would advise having at least one scrub in your team. That way you can divert funds to another Inter Miami player should the Argentine not start.

  • One of my favorite matchups this week is Orlando vs. Minnesota. This is why Gallese and Brekalo are on my bench. I will be watching that line-up to see if there are any attacking pieces I want to target as well. But, with CCC midweek I’m not sure what will come out offensively.
  • Rocky Mountain Cup is always a fun matchup, but I heavily favour RSL this week. That is why I have Eneli and Arango on my team, both for decent BP production.
  • I’m expecting Atlanta to dominate NE after the Revolution played midweek in CCC. Almada should be heavily involved in the attack. Also, Wiley has attacking potential and a decent clean sheet chance.
  • Columbus should also dominate Chicago at home. That is why I have the armband on Cucho and have Yeboah on my bench, someone who has been collecting KPs like crazy attacking up that left side.
  • Outside of those matchups, Lucho and CEspi both have solid Bonus Point production. Nealis also seems to have a good clean sheet chance at home against Dallas.

  • Round 2 points = 89 points and an overall rank of 1091, so I moved up a little. Hits were Seattle double defence, Cucho, Messi, Acosta. Misses = FC Dallas players.
  • This week Messi starts but setting an alarm for the line-up to check given the midweek fixture.
  • I am tripling up on Columbus and doubling on RSL. I may need to review Atlanta and add more than Wiley so will look at that Holding.
  • Malanda as my Charlotte pick for now, not at home until 3/23 though.

  • Midfielder: Luciano Acosta (CIN; 9.9m) – Luciano Acosta is a must-have. I predict he will get a lot of points this week against DC United. He is very creative and averages 9.5 points a game.
  • Midfielder :Thiago Almada (ATL; 8.9m); Almada is a good pick this round at home vs New England who have not exactly kept the ball out the back of their own net.
  • Forward: Denis Bouanga (LAFC $ 9.7m) Playing v Sporting Kansas City at home. Bouanga has the potential to haul big this week.
  • Forward: Lionel Messi (MIA; 11M): Lionel Messi delivered two goals, along with a cluster of bonus points, to haul in a solid 15 total in Round 2. I expect him to continue to be the focal point of the Miami attack in Sunday’s clash with Montreal.

  • In goal, I’ll be going for Crew’s Schulte with a favourable matchup against the Chicago Fire. I’ll be pairing him with a $4.0m BYE as budget is tight this week with all the premium assets in midfield and attack.
  • Kai Wagner was an easy lock for me in defence this week as he faces an injury riddled Sounders team at home this week. Though, look out for potential rotation as Philadelphia played in CCC midweek.
  • I’ve also picked up RSL’s Eneli as he faces a Rapids team at home that is yet to live up to expectations after having a impressive off-season.
  • My last two defenders are Thiago Martins and Caleb Wiley who I currently have on my bench.
  • In midfield, Lucho Acosta and Thiago Almada were both easy locks for me this week with favourable matchups on paper and I might end up captaining one of them.
  • I also like the look of Diego Luna and Mateusz Bogusz this week with both of them having potential to haul at home against Colorado and Sporting respectively.
  • My last midfielder is currently Facundo Torres who’s at home to Minnesota United and he alongside the entire Orlando team will be keen to bounce back after the 5-0 loss to rivals Inter Miami last weekend.
  • I am also considering NYCFC Agustín Ojeda should he start on Saturday night against Portland Timbers at home.
  • In attack, like last week it’s pretty straightforward with Lionel Messi and Cucho Hernandez both making my team. My final FWD is a BYE.
