- Kristijan Kahlina and Tim Ream are no-brainers this week, with Charlotte playing home games against two of the weakest attacks in the league. I’m inclined to stick with Kahlina even if Charlotte fail to keep a clean sheet in their first game, such is the strength of their schedule. I may therefore forego the ‘keeperoo this week, with only Tim Melia available as a fallback from the late games.
- Elsewhere in defence, Ranko Veselinović is probably the safest Vancouver defender and stands a good chance of at least one clean sheet.
- A Columbus defender also looks sensible given their double home slate. I’ve currently gone for Rudy Camacho. Although, I am wary of Wilfried Nancy’s penchant for rotation. I will probably play a three-at-the-back autoroo given the size of the DGW, with my other two defenders likely to be scrub candidates from Sporting Kansas City.
- In midfield, Evander is locked in my team. He should be fully rested following his Round 28 suspension and Portland have two very winnable matchups against Austin and Dallas.
- Đorđe Mihailović is on a remarkable run of five double-digit returns in six home games. He plays twice at home, as does the returning Santi Rodríguez, both of whom make my team.
- Lucho Acosta and Riqui Puig are my final midfield picks. Although, one will likely make way for Ryan Gauld should the Vancouver midfielder recover in time for the midweek slate.
- Upfront, I’ve selected Jonathan Rodríguez to take full advantage of Portland’s favourable DGW schedule. The same is true with Cucho Hernández, who looks to be returning to his pre-Leagues Cup best.
- Lionel Messi also makes my team despite two away games but isn’t locked in for captaincy. He may also end up being a bench play if he’s rested for Inter Miami’s first game.

- There are a ton of ways you can go about this DGW. I’m starting with a CS hunt with Clark and Micael hosting NE and falling back on Takaoka’s double home game. I’m really hoping Clark holds strong because I really don’t like Vancouver’s CS chances.
- My other two defenders are Tim Ream and Laryea. Both are at home twice and play for two defences that can be hard to break down. I like Laryea as a solid differential because of his attacking upside.
- For the midfield I have Mihailovic, Gauld and Evander all on double home games with favourable matchups. Evander gets the captain armband just because of how tasty his matchups are.
- I like both Puig and Bogusz a lot this week as well, Bogusz specifically going against two of the worst defences in the league.
- Forwards are going to be really tough this week. Realistically, we have 5-6 viable picks. I am currently on JRod, Messi (of course), and Cucho. Messi is inevitable, but JRod and Cucho have those home matchups I can’t argue against, though Bouanga, Pec and Benteke could really do some damage this week as well.

Notes
- It’s a big double game week during playoff crunch time.
- SKC and CHI are the two teams with only one fixture.
- CLT have two home matches and triple defence is a possible differential/punt here.
- Be sure to watch the line-ups with rotation and look for teams that can improve playoff position.
- Miami have two on the road and are seven points ahead in the Supporters Shield so rotation may be heavy.
- The first Miami match with Columbus can sure up their position and may make their second match meaningless.
