MLS Fantasy Round 25 Team Reveals

Notes

  • I don’t see many standout clean sheet opportunities among the Saturday games, so I’ve gone for Kristijan Kahlina and Stefan Frei as my two goalkeepers this week. There should be just enough time to see the end of the Charlotte game before Frei locks in my line-up.
  • In defence, I’ve once again paired Kahlina with Tim Ream and Frei with Alex Roldan. Luca Orellano and Kai Wagner both come back into my team given their favourable home matchups, while the out-of-position Dante Sealy continues on my bench.
  • Anders Dreyer, Evander and Hany Mukhtar are all locks in midfield given their matchups. Martín Ojeda has returned in his last 15 league and cup games for Orlando, whom I can see scoring against Nashville. However, I may yet replace Ojeda due to possible fatigue and rotation off the back of Orlando’s midweek Leagues Cup fixture, Philip Zinckernagel gets my final midfield spot. Chicago have been better away from home all season, so I’m happy running him from the bench.
  • Upfront, Lionel Messi wasn’t involved in Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup win over Tigres, making him a shoo-in for captaincy this week if fit.
  • Diego Rossi and Sam Surridge complete my forward line. Rossi has returned in eight of his last thirteen MLS starts and has a solid floor. Surridge, on the other hand, seems to have gone off the boil since earlier in the season, although seven away games in the last ten might have something to do with that. However, Nashville are back at home this week, where they top the league for xG/game.

Notes

  • It’s a typical schedule with three Sunday matches and no DGW.
  • Four teams had Wednesday Leagues Cup matches, but Messi did not feature.
  • I will leave some Sunday spots, including CLT and Seattle who could be scrubs if the bench hit.
  • I’m going Messi captain to start with, but I need to watch the line-ups there.
  • Evander, Hany, Dreyer all at home, line the midfield three.
  • I like the Vancouver defence, but I will back up with CLT at home against NYRB.
