Notes

  • Columbus Crew have two home games and play at the start of the round, allowing an easy pivot should they concede against Nashville. All of which makes Patrick Schulte the ideal front end of a ‘keeperoo. The improving Colorado Rapids also have two winnable home games, so Zach Steffen will be my fallback.
  • I’ve followed a similar line of thinking in defence, where I’ve paired Schulte and Steffen with Mo Farsi and Andreas Maxsø, respectively. Farsi is a slight rotation risk but often gets into attacking positions, so could be worth the punt.
  • I’m clean sheet hunting with Emeka Eneli too, with Real Salt Lake also playing twice at home. I’m not expecting much from Maya Yoshida in El Tráfico besides a couple of bonus points, but think the LA Galaxy could add to their recent clean sheet tally at home to Minnesota on Sunday.
  • Jackson Ragen is a desperation single gameweek fallback and prime scrub candidate.
  • In midfield, Lucho Acosta and Riqui Puig are probably my only locks. Other midfield choices could be tricky this week, with standout picks like Evander, Carlos Andrés Gómez, Đorđe Mihailović and Santi Rodríguez all one yellow card from suspension. The first three currently make my team. Although, I may still pivot to someone like Cristian Espinoza – who could be a sleeper pick with his fixtures – if I decide to limit the risk.
  • Upfront, the chalk picks will be three from Chicho Arango, Denis Bouanga, Cucho Hernández and an LA Galaxy forward. Arango and captain Cucho are locks for me, and while Dejan Joveljic/Gabriel Pec have arguably the better fixtures this week. It’s hard to overlook Bouanga’s explosive potential, even with two away games.

  • It is a DGW for many teams but single for Seattle who don’t play until Saturday so I have placeholders in case someone on the bench gets hurt. Otherwise two scrubs for best two out of three from the bench. I can scrub Steffen in goal if STL and their new manager have a good first match as well.
  • I have lots of money to spend on a back two out of three scenario.
  • My captain is Cucho for now!

  • MID: Carlos Gómez (RSL; 12.4m); Gómez’s season has been outstanding. He has scored 10 goals and provided six assists. With two games this round, I’m expecting great things from Gómez, who scored well in Real Salt Lake’s previous double gameweek.
  • FWD: Chicho Arango (RSL; 16.2m): After scoring a hattrick and 22 points in Round 15 not so long ago, Chicho Arango will now face Houston Dynamo FC and Atlanta United FC both at home in this dgw. He has produced eight, seven, and six shots in each of his last three starts, demonstrating his ability to shoot at will. Regardless of the opponent, the Colombian lucky charm is in such terrific form that he is an absolute must-play.
  • FWD: Cucho Hernández (CLB; 12.3m): In his last four games, he has amassed an amazing 64 Fantasy points, with three assists and six goals which makes him a great pick this dgw round.

  • We’re heading towards another double gameweek although it’s more spread out this time around. Charlotte, Austin, Red Bulls and Seattle are on a single game.
  • In goal, I’m looking at Freese on the front end with two good matchups against MTL and atl.
  • Zack Steffen is currently my fallback should Freese fail to keep a clean sheet in the first game with two home games this week.
  • In defence, with RSL and LAG having two home games this week I’m looking to take advantage of that as I currently have Emeka Eneli and Yamane. Thiago Martins completes the double NYCFC defence due to his bonus production.
  • Lucho Acosta and Evander were both locks for me this week due to their production this season. I’m also looking at Mihailovic and Carlos Gomez who’s been consistent with points scoring during the double gameweeks.
  • My final midfielder is Mateusz Bogusz who’s been on fire as of late with a hattrick against Colorado last time out. He’s currently on my bench as LAFC have a double away round.
  • Up front, I’ve gone with Gabriel Pec who’s been the most consistent LAG attacker lately and I expect LAG to score plenty of goals this week which should see involvement from Pec.
  • Cucho has 64 points in his last four outings and with two home games I don’t expect him to cool off. He’s currently also my captain.
  • Chicho Arango is my final forward pick and although he’s been disappointing as of late I expect him to be back to his best with two home games.
