We’re finally back to a single Gameweek in Round 19. Charlotte are the only team on a bye.
Jonathan Sirois and Gabriele Corbo were easy defensive choices, with Montreal on run of seven consecutive home shutouts. Daniel will be my fallback ‘keeper, with San Jose facing an LA Galaxy team missing a number of key players due to injury and Gold Cup duty.
Bonus point magnet Rodrigues is an easy defensive inclusion for the same reason.
My other defenders are Álvaro Barreal, Walker Zimmerman and Tim Parker. Barreal and Zimmerman are locks due to their clean sheet and offensive potential. Parker may yet become Nouhou, depending on line-ups. Both St Louis and Seattle have favourable home matchups against teams with indifferent away records (Colorado and Houston, respectively).
In midfield, Hany Mukhtar is my only lock (and is under consideration for captaincy). Elsewhere, there are several viable midfield options, with Lorenzo Insigne, Emmanuel Reynoso, Lucho Acosta and Lucas Zelarayán currently making my team.
Zelarayán is the most likely to make way due to the Red Bulls’ ability to shutdown playmakers; one of Cristian Espinoza and Thiago Almada will likely come in should I decide to drop the Columbus number 10.
Upfront, shot-happy Cucho Hernández (5.60 shots per game; first in MLS) is a lock in my team as I expect him to fare better against the Red Bulls than Zelarayán. With both teams missing pieces in defence, I’m expecting Atlanta-Philadelphia to produce goals. For that reason, I’ve picked up goal-happy Julian Carranza (eight goals in his last 12 starts) and may also end up including xG king Georgios Giakoumakis. If I don’t pick Giakoumakis, my third forward is likely to be Duncan McGuire, who has a plum home fixture against Chicago. The only issue with McGuire, as ever, is whether he goes the full 90 minutes.

Rodrigues (SJ; 9.8m): 19 recoveries and 79 accurate passes saw Rodrigues to six points versus St. Louis, despite conceding twice; versus low-lying LA Galaxy, who’ve scored just five in 10 away games this season. He’ll look to add to his four double-figure hauls. 47 tackles, 36 interceptions, and 90 clearances rank eighth, third, and fifth in the MLS, respectively.
Malte Amundsen (CLB; 7.3m): despite one assist and one clean sheet being his only returns in the last five, Amundsen has demonstrated his superb floor with 5.4 points per game; two goals in three games before this showed an equally impressive ceiling! Columbus Crew have the MLS’ second-best clean sheet odds (2.62), adding another dimension to his potential for just 7.3m.
Facundo Torres (ORL; 9.9m): 31 points and 10 shots in three Gameweeks has caught many eyes, 2.55 key passes per 90 topping Orlando stats. His side have the MLS’ third-best winning odds this Gameweek (1.80), and haven’t lost at home in 2023, thus presenting Torres with the perfect opportunity to continue his form!
Lucas Zelarayán (CLB; 13.1m): 8.31 points per game is second to only Almada (nine points per game), nine points per game over his last seven >45-minute outings making him the go-to man for many. The form of the Crew forwards may cause some managers to second guess his selection, but Lucas is truly unmissable at home with more than 11 points per game in home ties this season.

Defender: Rodrigues (SJ; 9.8m) Rodrigues scored six points vs St Louis City. He will aim to add to his four double-figure returns against LA Galaxy. In the MLS he has 47 tackles, 36 interceptions, and 90 clearances which places him high on the rankings.
Midfielder: Lucas Zelarayán (CLB; 13.1m) – When it comes to MLS Fantasy options, Zela has 8.31 Points per game and is second only to Almada’s (nine PPG). Colombus are playing at home and have good winning odds.
Midfielder: Luciano Acosta (CIN; 12.4m) Cincinnati’s standout player, as evidenced by his nine game streak of eight goals and 2.71 key passes per game average during his last 8 starts. This suggests that we should anticipate more from him this round.
Midfielder: Hany Mukhtar (NSH; 14.4m); Mukhtar got an incredible 18-pointer in GW17 with a hattrick. Nashville also have a good game. This makes him a great pick again this round. Mukhtar is also high with the stats on shots, shots on target, key passes and crosses in MLS this season.

Montreal are top of my ‘keeper EAPR this week and with them having the early game, it would be wise to put Sirois ($8.6m) on the bench. If he returns, then it would be easy to scrub Frei ($8.9m) who has a late game for Seattle.
I’ll be doubling down on the Montreal defence and if he starts, selecting Corbo ($7.8m) who has two hauls in his last three home games. I will also be looking to Seattle and Columbus’ home games, with Tolo ($7.8m) and Amundsen ($7.3m) the two players I’m targeting.
I’ll also be placing Barreal ($11.6m) on my bench with a scrub from Charlotte in my starting XI.
My midfield this week will consist of Acosta ($12.4m), Mukhtar ($14.4m), Zelarayan ($13.1m) and Almada ($13.4m) – with the former two in contention for the captaincy. I’ll also be looking to take a punt on Reynoso ($8.1m).
Up front I’ll more than likely be sticking with Cucho ($11.7m) and Pulido ($8.4m), along with a Charlotte play to scrub.

CLTFC have a bye and an opportunity to get healthier.
I like Cincy, ATL, and Columbus this week especially.
Opportunity to scrub Lennon or upgrade the keeper depending on bench performance.
Ther are some good captain options with Mukhtar, Zela especially.
