MLS Fantasy Round 18 Team Reveals

Notes

  • I’ve gone for Aljaž Ivačič and Stefan Frei as my two ‘keepers for the Round 17 DGW. New England have two winnable home games and I get to see both of Ivačič’s scores before Frei – whose Seattle team also stands a good chance of a clean sheet against Austin – locks in my team.
  • In defence, I’ve paired Ivačič with the attack-minded Ilay Feingold in the hope he repeats his previous DGW heroics.
  • Yevhen Cherberko and Mohamed Farsi complete my backline. Like New England, Columbus play twice at home and should be good for at least one clean sheet, with Cheberko and Farsi also capable of contributing passing bonus points and attacking returns, respectively.
  • In midfield, Carles Gil, Hany Mukhtar and Martín Ojeda were among the first names in my team given their form and/or fixtures.
  • Đorđe Mihailović was also a relatively easy pick given Colorado’s home game against the LA Galaxy.
  • Federico Bernardeschi is my last midfield pick but is still questionable per the MLS injury report. So, I may yet switch him out for Cristian Espinoza or Philip Zinckernagel.
  • Upfront, Diego Rossi is a lock given Columbus’ two home fixtures and as good a shout as any for captaincy given his points floor.
  • Cristian Arango (San Jose also play the LA Galaxy this DGW) and Hugo Cuypers complete my forward line. Although, I haven’t ruled out picking Dejan Joveljić.

Notes

  • It’s a double game week this week and I’m starting a 5-3-2 but choosing single game week scrubs just in case.
  • I like that NE, Columbus and Chicago have two home matches, but right now I have attackers going at my defenders a little too much for my liking. So, I may make adjustments there.
  • Hany captain for now, though I don’t love the double road matches.
  • I’m not sure double clean sheets are happening anywhere, so hoping Columbus gets the first one at least with Schulte.
  • Zaha continues to do well and I will be in KC for that match, so have to have him this week.
