- LAFC have the best combined clean sheet odds this week. This makes Hugo Lloris an easy pick for my goalkeeper. The timings of the first slate of fixtures mean I’m unlikely to run a ‘keeperoo this week, unless I pick a single gameweek option from the weekend games.
- In defence, I’ve paired Kahlina with Jere Uronen. He has a share of Charlotte’s set plays. I’d have taken Aaron Long too if I wasn’t already tripled up on LAFC assets.
- My other defenders are John Tolkin and Malte Amundsen. Tolkin, like Uronen, also shares set plays and his New York Red Bulls team have the third best combined clean sheet odds heading into Round 18.
- Columbus are slightly further down the clean sheet pecking order this week, but I don’t mind taking Amundsen, who has OK fixtures and decent bonus point potential.
- It looks like a good week to potentially run an autoroo, so my other defenders are scrub picks for now.
- In midfield, Lucho Acosta has two home games and is locked in as my captain. Evander and Riqui Puig, who Greg Vanney has indicated could return from injury this week, are also no-brainers if available.
- Mateusz Bogusz also looks to be an easy pick given his and LAFC’s form – the Polish midfielder hasn’t scored fewer than nine Fantasy points in five of his last six appearances!
- My final midfield spot is up for grabs, with the currently selected Hany Mukhtar, Emil Forsberg and Cristian Espinoza all in contention. Although, bear in mind the San Jose midfielder is one yellow card from suspension.
- Upfront, the enigmatic Chicho Arango and Denis Bouanga are also locked in my team.
- My final forward pick is Federico Bernardeschi. He returns from suspension this week and is primed to add to the 61 Fantasy points (!) he’s amassed across his last five appearances.
- Cucho Hernández and Christian Benteke, who also has two home games this week, are also in the mix for me upfront.

- By far the best CS chances this DGW are going to be with Charlotte. I currently have Kahlina, Malanda, and Bryne. I’m not sure if I will stay tripled up by Wednesday, but for the moment that is where I’m at.
- My last defender is Aaron Long. LAFC have been solid defensively recently, though I don’t see them keeping a CS in either of those games. He has had a fairly consistent floor so I could easily see him putting up an eight without a CS or goal involvement.
- Real Salt Lake’s matchups are too tasty to ignore. That is why I have Carlos Gomez and Arango starting. I’ve also considered putting the armband on Arango as a fun differential.
- Similarly, I really like LAFC’s matchups this week and I have them doubled up as well with Bogus and Bouanga.
- The rest of my team is filled in with Home and Away split players who consistently are dangerous. Evander should be able to do some major damage against a struggling San Jose team and in a Cascadia rivalry match against Vancouver.
- Espinoza has a similar ceiling, but he is on Yellow Card Accumulation warning, so he will stay on my bench just in case he gets a yellow card that first game.
- Cucho should see a lot of chances against a struggling Miami defense and an awful SKC side.
- One of the best options this week across all players is Lucho Acosta. One of, if not the best midfielders in the game playing twice at home against teams that are struggling defensively. That is why he is wearing the armband for me.

- It’s a quick turnaround this week with a big DGW and a couple of singles including NER, IM.
- CLT defence is still hot and going double there.
- Double defence scrubs to take advantage of a big bench.
- I would love to get an update on Puig for this week but will double on LAFC and triple RSL as well with a couple of good matchups.

- MID: Luciano Acosta (CIN; 16m); Luciano Acosta continued his run of MVP form in FC Cincinnati’s win over San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday with three assists. The crafty midfielder has six double-digit fantasy points in last nine games averaging 9.18 pts per game.
- MID: Evander (POR:13.7M); Evander is high on shots in the last couple of games and has a decent dgw matchup this week. He is a given in my line-up after five games with three goal and three assists in last six.
- MID: Riqui Puig (LA; 14.9m) Riqui Puig has scored or assisted in five of his last six appearances, and he’s topped double-digit fantasy points in three straight makes him a main stay in my team.

- Round 18 is another Double Gameweek with CHI, MIA, MIN, NER and VAN having a single game. In goal I’m currently looking at Roman Burki on the front end. This is because St. Louis have two favourable home matchups this round and they rank inside the top 10 for GA. My fallback is currently James Pantemis with Portland having kept two clean sheets in their last three games. Portland should also have a good chance of keeping at least one clean sheet this week.
- In defence, I’ve paired Burki with Totland with some offensive potential alongside the CS chances. Kai Wagner were a pretty easy pick despite the Union’s poor form this season. Adilson Malanda is my final playing defender with Charlotte having registered six clean sheets in their last eight games, five of them coming at home.
- Evander, Lucho and Riqui Puig (if he starts) were all locks due to their production this season. One of them is likely to be my captain this week.
- Yuya Kubo scored a nine minute hattrick last round against San Jose away. So, I’m tempted to take a punt on him.
- My final midfielder is currently Mateusz Bogusz. He has had a very good season thus far with seven goals and two assists. He’s currently a bench play as the weather looks shaky for their first game of the double round away against Austin FC.
- Up front, Bouanga and Arango were both locks. This is given their form and favourable matchups this round.
- My final forward spot has gone to Cucho Hernandez who has struggling for consistency this season. But he showed his quality in his last outing against NYCFC with a goal and an assist. With Inter Miami and SKC coming up and no CCC to worry about I expect him to really start fire on all cylinders.
