  • At the time of writing, there are rumours that Christian Benteke may have picked up an injury. That, along with Charlotte’s already decent clean sheet odds and impressive recent defensive performances, make Kristijan Kahlina an easy pick for my early ‘keeper. Stefan Frei will be my fallback. Although, I’m hoping I won’t need him. While Seattle have decent underlying defensive numbers, they do have a tendency to leak the odd goal most games.
  • In defence, I’ve paired Kahlina with Adilson Malanda. Although I may double up on Charlotte defenders if Benteke is confirmed out for the weekend. Bonus point magnet Kai Wagner is also a shoo-in for Philadelphia’s home game against depleted Inter Miami. Since Round 5, the German has only scored less than five points on two occasions, despite only four clean sheets in that time.
  • Colorado face an anaemic Austin offence at home, so Andreas Maxsø also makes the cut.
  • In midfield, the matchup proof (or nearly) Lucho Acosta and Riqui Puig are no-brainers. Puig is likely to be my captain in Lionel Messi’s absence.
  • Emil Forsberg is another easy pick at home to Nashville, particularly if Walker Zimmerman doesn’t return in time from international duty.
  • Carles Gil seems to be experiencing a Fantasy renaissance of late – despite the Revs’ well-documented struggles – and also makes my team.
  • My final midfield spot is a toss up. Santi Rodríguez’s production has been up and down of late. But, I think he could do well against Columbus at Yankee Stadium.
  • Carlos Andrés Gómez, Djordje Mihailovic and Joseph Paintsil (if available) are also in my thoughts though, given their matchups.
  • Upfront, Chicho Arango is a lock given his form and matchup against a struggling Montreal side, while Denis Bouanga also seems a solid play given LAFC’s away offensive numbers and Orlando’s absences due to internationals.
  • My final forward will likely be one of Dejan Joveljic and Lorenzo Insigne given their respective matchups, with Joveljic just shading it at the moment due to Federico Bernardeschi’s latest disciplinary absence for Toronto.

  • I’m camping this week and plan to not have cell service so I am going full autoroo.
  • My defenders right now are Wagner for his attacking potential against a defensively poor Miami, Maxso who is hosting an awful road Austin, and Malanda who will be playing DCU without Benteke.
  • Adding to that I will be running Kahlina as well.
  • For my midfield I wanted to target strong home matchups. Gil, Puig and Forsberg fit that bill perfectly, and Mihailovic should run rampant against that Austin backline. Lucho is the only away mid I have on my team, that is why he’s sitting on my bench. That San Jose matchup is just too tasty not to target.
  • Jovelic has a lot of potential to hit big against SKC along with Puig that is why I am starting him. Otherwise Bouanga and Chicho have decent matchups away from home so they are sitting on my bench as well.
  • My captain is Puig because of his matchup at home, but also his very safe floor.

  • Coming off a very odd week it will be nice to have a full slate of games but still IB duties call for many.
  • It is nice to be able to look to Columbus for some players but how will they look. I can stash on the bench for the Saturday matchup and can scrub Abada potentially.
  • CLT back at home will look to get back on the clean sheet ledger.
  • I have gone for the usual suspects in midfield this week and will be interesting to see how Almada does. But I worry what the effect of GG being gone will have.
  • Captaincy is up in the air I think, I like Puig as well but starting it on Suarez for now with Messi away.

  • DEF: Kai Wagner (PHI; 10.7): For Philadelphia, Kai Wagner has contributed to back-to-back away shutouts and has averaged 8.2 fantasy points per game in his last five matches.
  • MID: Riqui Puig (LA; 14.9m): In his most recent game, Riqui Puig scored a goal in addition to an outstanding six bonus points. The Spaniard continues to be a walking fantasy point machine and with a mouth-watering matchup incoming – lock Puig in for another productive round.
  • MID: Carles Gil (NER; 13.5m);  Gil has averaged seven points per game this season and got 11 points vs New York Red Bulls last week. He is high for key passes so far this season in MLS and is nailed in my team this week vs Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
