Notes

  • The options this week are limited due to international callups and the large number of teams on a bye.
  • With LAFC’s attacking options limited this week, I am doubling up on defensive options for their upcoming double gameweek. John McCarthy will be my primary goalkeeper while the offensive-minded Ryan Hollingshead should start both games with Diego Palacios and Sergi Palencia both unavailable.
  • Elsewhere, Daniel has a favourable matchup at home to Portland and will be my fallback goalkeeper. I have paired him with Rodrigues, who has amassed 38 bonus points so far this season.Donovan Pines and DC United also stand a good chance of a clean sheet at home to an RSL team depleted by international callups.
  • My other defenders are DeJuan Jones and Daniel Lovitz, largely for their offensive potential as I do not expect either New England or Nashville to keep a clean sheet this round.
  • In midfield, Carles Gil, Hany Mukhtar and Cristian Espinoza all have favourable home matchups and are locks in my team, with Gil likely to be my captain.
  • Currently, I like the look of Héctor Herrera, who has a solid floor and returned 10 points against LAFC just last week (ignore the fact that MLS Fantasy currently lists him as being on a bye!), while Alexandru Mățan should deputise for the absent Lucas Zelarayán and has previously shown promise when playing at the 10.
  • Upfront, the on-fire Cucho Hernández is a lock as he prepares to face a struggling NYCFC side. Carlos Vela will likely be my final LAFC pick. Although he will probably be a bench play as it remains to be seen whether he can still lead the LAFC offense in the absence of Dénis Bouanga.
  • My last forward spot is currently occupied by Christian Benteke, with Chris Wood, Daniel Sallói and Jeremy Ebobisse also in my thoughts.

Notes

  • Round 17 was 109 points and back up to 1467 overall.
  • BGW, DGW, and International Break all in one this round! Crazy!
  • I am max on LAFC and hopefully Vela is busy with Bouganga out in IB.
  • McCarthy and Murillo are the other two LAFC players but I might need more research here.
  • There are some good midfielders at home with Gil, Mukhtar, Espinoza.
  • Good luck navigating this one!

  • This is my Round 17 team.
  • Defender: Hollingshead (LAFC; 7.1): A Double Round fixture vs Houston and SKC makes him a good pick. He is cheap way into LAFC with good defensive stats.
  • Rodrigues(SJE; 13.3m); Rodrigues has a good game vs Portland. He has one goal, one assist and two clean sheets in his last three games which makes him a sensible option this round.
  • Midfielder: Hany Mukhtar (NSH; 14.2m); Mukhtar got an incredible 20-pointer in his last double Round and Nashville have a winnable game vs St Louis. This makes him a great pick again this round. Mukhtar is also high with stats like shots, shots on target, key passes and crosses in MLS this season.
  • Carles Gil (NE; 12m)- Gil has returned 47 points in his last four starts, 21 of which came in DGW15 last time out. He ranks second for key passes so far this season in MLS. He is nailed in my team.

  • This week is going to be extremely hard to get away from the chalk, so any differentials could become fruitful. Saying that, at this moment in time I’m going to shove three LAFC players on the bench.
  • McCarthy ($7.8m) will be my bench ‘keeper and I’ll double up on the defence by going for Hollingshead ($7.1m) again. With many of LAFC’s key players on international duty, I am wavering on having Vela ($9m) but he is currently pencilled in for a bench position.
  • Making up my bench will be Herrera ($10.9m) who tore LAFC apart at the weekend and has a decent floor for bonus points. Whether or not he can do that on the road against a weaker LAFC side, we will find out.
  • Orlando will have most of their first-choice defence out for their trip to New England, so I’m going for a triple-up from the Revolution too. I’m keeping faith with Jones ($9.7m) in defence and will double-up in midfield by partnering my captain Gil ($12m) with Polster ($8.8m).
  • I’m going double San Jose defence by having Daniel ($6.7m) as my starting ‘keeper and pairing him with Rodrigues ($9.3m). The rest of my defence comprises of Pines ($10.1m) and Lovitz ($9.4m).
  • Mukhtar ($14.2m) is a lock in my midfield, but the second midfield slot is up for grabs. Currently I’m on Espinoza ($11.9m) with Portland missing their first choice ‘keeper but his recent poor form leaves me a bit restless.
  • Despite missing their star man in midfield, I’m going with Cucho ($11.3m) for the Crew’s away game at NYCFC. He will partnered up front by Pulido ($7.4m) who is on a rich vein of form.

Notes

  • Round 16 was 107 points, OVL Up to 120th GW17.
  • It is another DGW but only for LAFC with half the league on a bye.
  • Very tough and interesting week ahead in a midst of an international period!
  • Goalkeepers: McCarthy has a DGW. I am planning to go Daniel as a backup option if fails.
  • Defenders: Hollingsheead is a DGW defender and might need to step up offensively as well with LAFC missing some of their key players due to internationals.
  • Lovitz probably has one of the best matchup fixtures in this limited GW and is on set pieces (corners).
  • Pines has a decent fixture and has shown in the past to have offensive threat. Jones is in one of the best defensive teams.
  • Midfielders: Herrara, despite away, with limited options this GW. He might just be a bit of punt for the early game. Houston’s main creative force from the midfield is Mukhter. League MVP and has a great matchup.
  • A potential captain option in Gil. He is another League MVP candidate and has a great matchup. Outscoring everyone’s cap Almada DGW option from last week as well with a goal and two assists.
  • Current captain for me is Espinoza. He hasn’t returned like he did earlier in the season but has a great home matchup with Portland. Klich, with limited options, taking one of DC’s most important players in the midfield.
  • FWDs: Vela, with no Bouanga and Opoku due to internationals, its time for Vela to step up and lead that LAFC attack in a DGW. Benteke is DC’s main target man and has a great home game against RSL.
  • Due to the limited games this week and half the team on bye and internationals, lot more flexibility can occur for team choices and keeping an eye on line-ups is more key than usual.
