MLS Fantasy Round 15 Top Picks
With the new set of Major League Soccer fixtures approaching we take a look at the MLS Fantasy Round 15 top picks. X is full of some of the best fantasy managers in the world. Because of that we bring in expert @dmpwright to reel off some of the best options for the big round ahead.
Looking at the MLS Fantasy Round 15 top picks can be extremely useful to managers. Focusing on some of the best assets for the new week could help with some of the most important decisions in the game like transfers and captaincy.
Round 15
DGW season is well and truly upon us, as MLS racks up the fixtures ahead of the planned Leagues Cup break later in the summer. Fortunately, we have one team (Columbus) on a bye this DGW – look to them for safe scrubs.
Top targets – Maxime Chanot, LAFC – Defender, $7.6m
The first of an LAFC double up this week. The Black and Gold are starting to build up a head of steam after a so-so start to the year and play twice at home, where they are unbeaten so far this season. Maxime Chanot has quickly cemented his place in the starting XI following his early-season transfer from Ajaccio and looks to have the best Fantasy points floor among his defensive counterparts, having already recorded nine bonus points in his five starts to date.
Emil Forsberg – New York Red Bulls – Midfielder, $11.1m
While they play twice at home, the New York Red Bulls look to have a challenging DGW schedule. Nevertheless, I’m expecting big things from Lewis Morgan and Emil Forsberg, in particular, this week. The Swedish Designated Player continues to post excellent offensive numbers (only FC Cincinnati’s Lucho Acosta has a better xG+xA per game among midfielders) and undoubtedly has the talent to unlock a defence as stubborn as Charlotte’s when the two teams face off on Wednesday night.
Daniel Gázdag, Philadelphia Union – Midfielder, $11.4m
With 12 of his 15 MLS goals coming from 12 yards last term, Daniel Gázdag has understandably earned a reputation for being a bit of a penalty merchant. His non-penalty fortunes seem to have improved in 2024 however with only two of his eight goals so far this season coming from the spot.
Have he and Jim Curtin added another dimension to his game? Time will tell – either way, I’m expecting him to be among the goals again this week.
Denis Bouanga, LAFC – Forward, $14.4m
Inter Miami have two winnable home games in Round 15, so every man and his dog will (and should) have Lionel Messi, providing he plays, and probably Luis Suárez too. Messi and Suárez aside, Denis Bouanga is probably the best forward pick this week.
In Bouanga, LAFC have a player who can do it all from an offensive perspective: through 14 games, he leads the way in both goals (eight) and assists (five) for LAFC, and has already recorded an eye-watering seven double‑digit Fantasy returns. Expect him to pop off again this week.
Differential – Andrew Gutman, Chicago Fire – Defender, $6.3m
If you’re looking for a differential and believe that home field advantage is king (and it usually is in MLS) then look no further than Andrew Gutman, who has done OK from a bonus point perspective since returning from injury.
While the Chicago Fire play both of their Round 15 fixtures at Soldier Field, I’m not expecting their players – let alone a defender – to be highly owned this week given how poor they’ve been so far this season. I did call Joel Waterman correctly last week after all.
