MLS Fantasy Round 11 Team Reveals

Notes

  • ‘Keepers and defenders are where you can differentiate this week, with no clear template outside of a couple of picks/teams.
  • In goal, I’ve gone with Sean Johnson on the front end of my ‘keeperoo as I can see the Toronto vs New England game ending in a 0-0 stalemate. I’ve currently got Oscar Ustari as my fallback, mainly for budget reasons. However, Inter Miami still stand a decent chance of a clean sheet given the lack of firepower shown by the Red Bulls’ attack.
  • In defence, I’ve paired Johnson with Kevin Long. I am still considering a triple stack of Toronto defenders but have currently gone with the out-of-position Dante Sealy on my bench, with Montreal looking strong at home so far.
  • My other defensive picks are Ryan Hollingshead, who has great offensive numbers, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi and the cheapest Vancouver starter (I’ve currently gone with Tate Johnson). Kossa-Rienzi can easily become Alex Roldan should he start instead.
  • There don’t seem to be many standout picks in midfield this week. Cristian Espinoza, Evander and maybe Djordje Mihailovic are likely to be the ‘chalk’ picks; outside of those three, Martín Ojeda, Hany Mukhtar and Albert Rusnák likely have the greatest appeal, with the latter two currently making my team.
  • Lionel Messi hasn’t produced much in recent MLS and CCC games but he’s still a must-have and standout captaincy pick this week if he starts.
  • My other two forward spots are currently occupied by Chicho Arango and Denise Bouanga based on the strength of their respective fixtures, although the likes of Dejan Joveljić and Brian White (if fit) also appeal.

Notes

  • I’m nervous with how many away players I have, but we are rolling with it, starting with a Colorado bench stack for defence against a very hurt DC team.
  • Out of the later games I love Seattle for a solid CS shout. Farsi and Svatok give me two solid CS chances as well.
  • My away players continue with Evander, Mihailovic, Gil and Mukhtar. They all seem to have very high upsdie this week and I couldn’t ignore the matchups.
  • It’s funny to think Rusnak is my only home midfielder.
  • Ater the midweek flop against Vancouver, I expect Messi to start but I want to bench him in case the bad vibes continue.
  • Bounga’s matchup and form are hard to ignore, but Chicho Arango has the highest upside I think. That Portland – San Jose could easily become a massive shootout and I want a piece of it.

Notes

  • I don’t love the early matchups for keepers, perhaps TOR, but I will count on Frei most likely.
  • Vancouver rotation has to be watched closely along with Miami of course.
  • ATL are leaky so I’m starting with Surridge, but I may add there.
  • I would like to add Orellano to pair with Freeman and Ahmed on the backline.
  • Messi starts with the armband, but I will watch line-ups there of course.
  • Bouanga seems to be in fine form up top.
