Notes
- Stefan Frei into Rafael Cabral is my current ‘keeperoo for Round 9. Both have decent clean sheet potential this week and the combination should just about work timing wise (Cabral will likely lock just as the Seattle game is finishing)
- In defence, Kai Wagner is locked in my team and won’t be going anywhere. Joseph Rosales has a decent chance of a clean sheet and offers offensive threat, while Brayan Vera is a late-game fallback. I’m not entirely sure Austin keep a clean sheet against the LA Galaxy, who I expect will improve now they’re out of CCC. However, the matchup works timing wise, so I think it’s worth taking a flyer on an Austin defender like Oleksandr Svatok.
- Evander and Albert Rusnák are both back in training this week and will likely be in my team if they start their respective games. I can easily downgrade them to the likes of Diego Luna and Jack McGlynn if they don’t.
- Cristian Espinoza and Carles Gil pick themselves this week given their matchups. Gil’s bonus point production has improved considerably in recent weeks and is a viable captaincy option for Round 9, particularly if Lionel Messi doesn’t start.
- Emil Forsberg is my final midfield pick as things stand. I’m not completely sold on him given the Red Bulls’ offensive struggles, but his matchup this week is good enough that he’s worth throwing on the bench.
- Upfront, perma-captain Messi makes it providing he starts, while Josef Martínez and Bruno Damiani are my other forwards. Both are sacrifices of sorts and may yet be upgraded to Chicho Arango and Tani Oluwaseyi, respectively. However, Damiani has shown he’s capable of decent bonus point production, while Josef has virtually matched Arango for output so far this season

Notes
- It seems like the best CS chances are Austin and Minnesota, which is why I’m tripled up on Austin and doubled up on Minny. I’d love for Austin to hit and free up some funds to spend elsewhere, but I feel it’s important to keep them both for now.
- Sealy also seems to be a great floor player so he is starting.
- Damiani is a great cheap option with a great matchup.
- San Jose also has a great matchup, which is why I have the armband on Espinoza and have Martinez starting. If I can free up some funds I’d love to upgrade in to Arango.
- If Evander is good to go on Saturday, I like him for a bench play. Gil, Bassi and Rusnak also have great matchups.
- There is some doubt about Messi’s fitness so I have him for now. If he doesn’t go, I’d love to move an Austin defender to Wagner. But for now, I’ll plan on both Messi and Evander.

Notes
- If Stuver does well I can scrub Kahlina Saves and upgrade Doumbia.
- If Ream is out Doumbia will start and get forward a bit.
- I need to watch the line-ups for Rusnak and Messi, and see Evander’ status.
- I’m looking at best two of three off the bench as I may not have time to check late line-ups.
- I’m not sure I’ll go with two Quakes in the end, but I like their matchup this week.
- It’s the same with double Vancouver on the road, I need to think about it.
- I might add some MIN up front.
