Marc Jobling: Gameweek 6 Team Reveal

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 6, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweek 5 go?

It actually went quite well, with 78 points halving my rank from 1.97 million to 951k. It would’ve been even better had Man City v Arsenal not brought success for Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka.

Getting a Gameweek placing of 653k is great momentum heading into a Wildcard.

It was nice to finally get attacking returns from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Morgan Rogers, alongside some goodbye goods from Dean Henderson and Emile Smith Rowe. The one-week Ollie Watkins punt brought a goal, as did Bryan Mbeumo away at Spurs.

I picked the wrong captain, though. Sorry Erling, it won’t happen again!

What does your defence look like?

Time for some more Gameweek 6 Wildcard chat. Plans are slightly up in the air now that David Raya’s status is unknown.

Until then, I’d made a compromise with myself that proceeding without Mohamed Salah would at least bring strength everywhere else. It’d allow Alexander-Arnold in defence next to an Arsenal double-up.

Add in Jacob Greaves, plus some two-man combination of Ezri Konsa, Vitalii Mykolenko, Nathan Collins, Nikola Milenkovic and Rico Lewis.

If Raya is sidelined, I’ll either have Mark Flekken between the sticks with just one Arsenal defender or persevere with the Spaniard and accept no initial goalkeeping points.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

In exchange for no Salah, I at least want my Wildcard to include Trent, triple Arsenal, each week’s leading captaincy options and some much-needed squad depth. Maybe the initial inclusion of Luis Diaz – rather than Jarrod Bowen or Eberechi Eze – can offer some Liverpool attacking relief.

I’m delighted to keep Mbeumo and Rogers, joined in midfield by Antoine Semenyo – the player currently ranked second overall for shots. He has Southampton and Leicester next, where the beauty of a Wildcard is that you can plan to bench him for Bournemouth’s tricky Gameweek 8 and 10 matches.

The main debates are Dominic Solanke v Nicolas Jackson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin v Chris Wood. What’s currently swaying me is Jackson’s repeatedly early withdrawals and Everton having slightly better fixtures than Nottingham Forest.

Obviously, I like Watkins too but he’s expensive and I think two Aston Villa attackers would be excessive.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 6 and beyond?

This season’s initial transfers went on putting out the fires of Solanke, Christopher Nkunku, Anthony Gordon and Rodrigo Muniz.

It’d be lovely to start collecting a few of them. This current squad absolutely nails the next four Gameweeks, in my opinion, meaning it simply comes down to luck with injuries and suspensions.

Once Diaz starts rotating with Cody Gakpo, he’s an easy move to someone like Bowen. It’s a good price point.

Finally, what about captaincy?

When determining each upcoming week’s best armband options, it’ll be Haaland and Saka for a while. I’m delighted to own both, although now it’s about guessing the correct captain each time.

As a Newcastle fan, I see something is massively wrong with the team. Eddie Howe isn’t getting it right and, defensively, they’re a mess. Screw the early kick-off rule, it has to be Haaland against these dummies.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
