Marc Jobling: Gameweek 24 Team Reveal
Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.
Ahead of Gameweek 24, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.
Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweek 23 go?
It went really well, thanks to the signing of Cody Gakpo. His two goals, assist and 16 points helped me to 79 points, rising from 640k to 440k.
Mentions should also go to captain Mohamed Salah, the haul of Alexander Isak, a Trent Alexander-Arnold assist and owning double Arsenal defence for their clean sheet.
I’m basically the same rank as after Gameweek 19 but with each subsequent arrow taking me in opposite directions.
What does your defence look like?
Having Vitalii Mykolenko and Jacob Greaves’ returns stuck on the bench wasn’t fun to see but each starting defender bagged at least four points, so it’s fine.
The bad news for owners of the Ukrainian is that I’ll be starting him for his double, which probably means he’ll blank. I’ve sidelined so, so many of his clean sheets since purchasing in Gameweek 6.
Trent plays twice too, though admittedly it’s not ideal to have two Arsenals versus Man City. I just can’t remove Gabriel’s goal threat, even if it’s for Greaves at home to Southampton.
Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?
I’m not bothering with Everton’s attack, though the main decision is whether to start Joao Pedro or Ismaila Sarr. I’ve not had a good time with the latter but he currently has more credit in the bank than the infuriating Brighton forward.
The rest is fairly standard. Three pillars of Isak, Salah and Cole Palmer, surrounded by Gakpo’s double and Morgan Rogers versus Wolves.
So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 24 and beyond?
It seems a bit luxurious to remove Anthony Gordon before he’s at home to Fulham but I just want Bryan Mbeumo back. I bought the Brentford attacker in Gameweek 4 and had a great time over the coming months but downgraded him in Gameweek 17.
He’s netted four times in the seven matches since, about to host struggling Spurs. I can’t resist, even if it’s a loss in money compared to his December sale price.
After that, I’m hoping to settle on a chip strategy by Gameweek 25. That’s when we’ll know the EFL Cup final and the 16 remaining FA Cup teams.
Finally, what about captaincy?
An auto-pick during normal Gameweeks, Salah will now have twice the amount of time to score and assist. I’m using my Triple Captain chip on the Egyptian, despite both being tricky away matches.
