Marc Jobling: Gameweek 22 Team Reveal

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 22, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweek 21 go?

Written before Thursday’s two matches, I’ve seen all my players play and they’re on 74 points. It’s currently a good rise from 595k to 443k but will obviously drop – let’s hope not by much.

The purchases of Anthony Gordon and Daniel Munoz went well because both delivered, though making way was my eternal enemy Antoine Semenyo. I looked into it – in 15 Gameweeks of owning the Bournemouth attacker, he brought just one attacking return in 10 starts.

On the four non-suspension occasions where I benched him, there were three returns. And, of course, he celebrated my sale by hauling at Chelsea on Tuesday.

Elsewhere, I’m pleased to have captained Cole Palmer over Mohamed Salah. Had Eddie Howe not placed doubt with his press conference words, the armband would’ve been on Alexander Isak’s bigger 16 points.

What does your defence look like?

I’m thankful that Munoz’s clean sheet cancelled out Lewis Hall’s for almost everyone else. Newcastle’s left-back is the only other player I’d want beyond this solid base of covering Liverpool, Arsenal and the incredibly attacking Crystal Palace man. Although fixtures don’t look appealing this time.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

I was also able to grab assists for Morgan Rogers, Ismaila Sarr and Nicolas Jackson in Gameweek 21. But the latter definitely brought mixed feelings. While I share the anger of other owners in that he missed seven shots – three of which were labelled ‘big chances’ – for me, this was his first return since purchasing him five matches ago.

Jackson has Wolves next at home but the continuation of owning him at the expense of Chris Wood is proving costly.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 22 and beyond?

The sensible thing to do right now is keep rolling, Limp Bizkit-style. Once we find out about domestic cup progression, the Blanks and Doubles will start taking shape and a chip strategy will form.

My initial thought is that, should Newcastle and Liverpool make the EFL Cup final, I’ll have seven players absent for Gameweek 29. Free Hit then, hope that means seven doublers in Gameweek 33 and collect transfers to dead-end into the even bigger Blank Gameweek 34. Then the Wildcard and Bench Boost sequence.

But I know the popular route of content creators will be to Free Hit in 34. Let’s see what happens, transfers are precious right now.

Finally, what about captaincy?

I’m torn between Palmer and Salah but I didn’t like betting against the latter. It felt lucky and I can’t see him blanking in successive matches.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
