Marc Jobling: Gameweek 13 Team Reveal

Last modified date

Each Gameweek brings an FPL community team reveal. As a result, that person gives insight into their transfers, captaincy and future plans.

Ahead of Gameweek 13, it’s the turn of Marc Jobling to tell us what is happening to his team.

Hi Marc and thanks for the team reveal. How did Gameweek 12 go?

It was my best of the season so far, as 82 points had a Gameweek rank of 196k and it took my overall position from around 1.92m to 956k. This was long, long overdue.

Buying Mohamed Salah and Joao Pedro for Erling Haaland and Bukayo Saka went brilliantly, despite the latter reaching double digits. Weeks of owning two Arsenal defensive assets finally brought clean sheets, with Nathan Collins bagging his first of the campaign.

Unfortunately, opponent Vitalii Mykolenko kept one too and I once again benched him. Fellow subs Dominic Solanke and Lukasz Fabianski also did well but I suppose this isn’t a week to complain about such things.

A word to Matheus Cunha, too. Since buying him a trio of matches ago, he’s given me three goals, three assists and 34 points.

What does your defence look like?

Beyond this week, not great. But Collins has one more good fixture in him, at home to Leicester.

Everton have conceded just twice in six matches but I’m still benching Mykolenko for his trip to Manchester United – will I ever learn?

Jacob Greaves’ imminent return could prove useful for squad depth, though I’d never expect more than two points from him.

Meanwhile, what about your midfield and attack?

It’s mostly very good for this week, although Morgan Rogers away to Chelsea is the stand-out bad fixture. Not that the Blues keep clean sheets, mind.

He’s stepping in for the suspended Antoine Semenyo, which I’m gutted about because that trip to Wolves was full of potential.

Cunha and Joao Pedro performed miracles for me last week, Bryan Mbeumo has just one shot and 0.09 expected goals (xG) from his last three but loves playing at home, while it feels great to be back onto Salah.

So what are your transfer plans for Gameweek 13 and beyond?

With £6.8m in the bank, the plan has been to downgrade David Raya to Bart Verbruggen in time for Southampton. Then, Gameweek 14 sees Dominic Solanke – who I’m sick of – move to Erling Haaland, forming a ‘threemium’.

Seeing Arsenal secure that clean sheet does have me doubting this idea, though. Especially if money can alternatively be raised by moving Mbeumo to Brennan Johnson next week.

Additionally, do I definitely want Haaland back in? I remain a huge fan of the Norwegian and know that his haul is coming but is any points tally worth over £15.0m?

Finally, what about captaincy?

There are few options, this time. Cole Palmer was my default thought, as he’s at home to an out-of-form, probably tired Aston Villa, who faced Juventus last night.

However, it’s really hard to resist Salah, both for his own individual form and the complete collapse of Manchester City.

Good luck and thank you for the team reveal!
