Arsenal and Manchester City Dumped Out of the Champions League!

The best Liverpool attacking assets

Salah has been the top scoring FPL player in three of the last five Premier League seasons. We consider if Salah is worth £13.0m FPL pounds. As well as using the fixture ticker and underlying stats from Fantasy Football Scout to assess the best Liverpool attacking assets.

FPL managers are always looking for the best teams to invest in and Liverpool are one of them. Although expensive Liverpool assets are relentlessly consistent for managers. This is why we tend to prioritise Liverpool players in our fantasy teams.

Liverpool attack

Liverpool dominated the attacking stats last season in the Premier League.

The reds were second for goals scored and first for goals scored in the box. They were also first for big chances scored, and second for set-piece goals. Indeed they were also first for goal attempts overall and the Liverpool assets dominated even more underlying stats.

Those numbers show that FPL managers simply have to invest in the Liverpool attack with potential to even go for a double attack.

Salah

Salah is deemed by many FPL managers as an absolutely essential FPL pick. The Egyptian King became the highest FPL point scorer once again last season after being knocked off his perch the season before by Bruno Fernandes.

Salah topped most key attacking stats of goals (with Son), goals inside the box, big chances scored, most attempts and the list goes on. The most dangerous player cannot not go a miss in fantasy managers teams especially when he is also arguably the best captain pick week in week out.

Luis Diaz

New to the Liverpool attack after only signing for them half way through last season. With the departure of Mane it is likely that Diaz plays much more minutes and becomes more of a nailed asset.

Predominantly playing on the left Diaz managed to score four goals and create three assists from his 11 starts last season, a good start to his Liverpool career.

Although its tough to dive into his stats because Diaz played much less game time than most of the other top midfielders we can see how effective he was per 90 minutes. In terms of goals scored per 90 minutes Diaz had a 0.37 average, higher than the likes of Bowen, Raphinha, Saka, and Kulusevski. For assists Diaz had a 0.28 per 90 minutes, lower than the likes of Kulusevski, Mount, Bowen and Maddison but higher than Son, Sterling and Saka.

In terms of expected data, for non-penalty expected goal involvement per 90 minutes Diaz had a 0.55 rating. That was higher than the likes of Bowen, Saka, Raphinha, Maddison and Kulusevski.

All stats suggest with more minutes Diaz could be great option in FPL teams for the new season.

Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota

Offensively new signing Darwin Nunez looks likely play in a central role. Roberto Firmino also remains a Liverpool player and therefore with Nunez there is likely to be some rotation. This rotation could especially be seen around the Champions League fixtures.

Diogo Jota has now been reclassified as a forward in the game. He played most of his minutes last season in the central role for Liverpool. This could mean that Jota and Nunez both fall victim to reduced minutes this season, alongside Firmino.

The new five substitutes rule could also see some players coming on for one points cameo’s. The rotation for the final Liverpool attacking spot is something managers should be mindful of.

Fixtures

The Fantasy Football Scout season ticker has Liverpool fourth best fixtures in the first six Gameweeks. Liverpool play the likes of Fulham, Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Everton in that period. Therefore tripling up on Liverpool assets looks well worth our money. Prioritising the Liverpool attacking assets looks wise for FPL managers.
