Gameweek 31 is almost over, therefore we can use LiveFPL rank tiers to analyse the decisions made by FPL managers.
Most active managers have at least one autosub to deal with, with injury doubt Trent Alexander-Arnold being unused from the Liverpool bench. Additionally, there were unexpected absences for Kieran Tierney (knee), Sergio Reguilon (knee) and Cristiano Ronaldo (illness) amongst others. So in came Armando Broja‘s blank for 16.59% of top 10k managers, with Aston Villa and Wolves defenders also popular autosubs.
The only main arrival not to blank for the top 10k was Matt Doherty‘s 14 points. Daniel Amartey and Emmanuel Dennis were amongst the various non-returns to enter teams of all ranks. Also, the one final match of this Gameweek (Burnley v Everton) is low in ownership.
A lower-than-expected percentage of managers used their Wildcard in this international break. Usually, this two-week makeover is a popular move but over 81.5% of the top 10k had already used it. The strong fixtures for premium assets means that very few Free Hits are in play.
This template squad isn’t actually possible, as four Tottenham players are selected. In fact, the popularity of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Doherty totals 237.18% inside the top 10k. Other well-used strategies include a double-up on Liverpool’s defence and grabbing the Double Gameweek of Wout Weghorst.
A starting XI with Mohamed Salah captain is currently on 63 points, way above the average of 38. It has one more Weghorst match plus Alexander-Arnold, Kulusevski, Broja and Martin Dubravka on the bench.
The EO (percentage of starting XI teams, plus captaincy, of a player) of Salah was close to 200%, bringing back memories from earlier this campaign. Meanwhile, Bukayo Saka has established himself as the second most-chosen player throughout the game.
