Is Harry Kane a must have in FPL?

Harry Kane scored his 200th Premier League on Sunday in Spurs’ 1-0 victory over Manchester City. Kane has already returned 148 FPL points so far this season and is on track for his best ever FPL season. The community refer to her as Harry Kane’s biggest fan so we asked Sam from FPL Family whether Harry Kane is a must have in FPL.

Harry Kane‘s (£11.7m) best ever FPL tally came in the 2020/21 season where he registered 242 points for his FPL owners.

His 148 FPL points this season leave him needing 94 points between now and the end of the season for this to be his best FPL campaign. Kane has scored 17 goals so far this season, this equals the tally that he registered in the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Kane also sits second in the FPL points tallies so far. Only Erling Haaland (£12.2m) has returned more FPL points so far this season. However, Haaland’s ownership standing at 85.5% is likely why Kane remains under owned. Just 36.7% of managers have the Spurs talisman in their FPL squads.

Kane hits 200 Premier League goals

All of Kane’s 200 Premier League goals have come wearing a Spurs shirt. However, over his time at the club he has had three home stadiums.

He is also the Premier League’s leading goal scorer in derby matches. Kane has sore 48 goals in 75 derby matches, more than any other player in Premier League history.

The Tottenham forward has scored against every opponent he has faced in the Premier League. His most prolific record is against Gameweek 23 opponents Leicester who Kane has scored 18 Premier League goals against. He also has a great record against West Ham who he plays against in Gameweek 24.

Teams Kane has the best record against in the Premier League

2017 was Kane’s best ever year. Kane got 39 goals during the 2017 calendar year, this is the most goals ever scored by a Premier League player in a calendar year. That calendar year Kane scored two sets of back-to-back hat-tricks one in May and one in December. He is the only Premier League player to have ever scored back-to-back hat-tricks twice.

Is Kane must have in FPL?

Haaland’s arrival in the Premier League has had an impact on Kane’s ownership. However, it also means a lot of FPL managers have over-looked what an excellent season Kane is having. Alongside his 17 goals this season, Kane has registered five assists for his Tottenham teammates. He is second in the game for attacking returns this campaign.

His 37 chances created is also a team leading total at Spurs, and of these chances eight have been classified as big chances. Kane has also returned 27 bonus points for his owners this season, only Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) has more with 31.

Tottenham legend Kane is in fantastic form, is both scoring goals and creating chances and haas excellent fixtures. For me this makes him a must have in FPL. If it wasn’t for Haaland, with Kane on for his best ever FPL season his ownership would be at least double what it is now. Managers who don’t own Kane should look to find a way to recruit Kane ahead of matches against Leicester and West Ham.
