Golden Boot 2021/22
The Golden Boot is awarded to the player who scores the most goals during a Premier League season. The award this season went down to the final Gameweek of the season. What does the Golden Boot mean for FPL.
This season the Golden Boot was shared by two players. Tottenham’s Son Heung-Min and Liverpool’s Mohammad Salah
Salah was one goal ahead of Son going in to Gameweek 38. Son scored a brace to put him one ahead. With Salah coming off the bench for Liverpool to score and level the total at the top.
Son Heung-Min
Today I missed the easy chances but I scored one of the toughest chances! I’m very happy and I’m really grateful to the team, they helped me along all season but especially in this game today because after 3-0, everyone was like, ‘come on Sonny, you’ve got to do it, you deserve this’ and I really appreciate that.
Son Heung-Min on winning the Golden Boot
19 of Son’s 23 goals in the league this season have come since Gameweek 14, including 12 since Gameweek 30. Son ended the season on fantastic form which saw him take top spot in the Golden Boot race.
This was our target. First to get in the Champions League but then when there was a chance to help Sonny reach the top scorer, we enjoyed it. I have seen his team-mates try to help him. The award is for Son but it’s for the whole team. They helped him reach this big achievement.

Mo Salah
This is the third time Salah has won the Golden Boot. He won it previously in 2017/18 and 2018/19. Now only Thierry Henry has won it more times than Salah with four Golden Boot awards.
With this third win Salah equalled Alan Shearer and Harry Kane in winning the prize three times.
