Gameweek 7 Best Free Hit Team
As we approach Gameweek 7 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season, let’s try to build its best Free Hit team. To do this, we’re using the fantastic organisational tool of PlanFPL.
One of several chips provided by the game, the Free Hit is an opportunity to select a squad for one Gameweek only. Afterwards, it’s back to your original, regular team.
For FPL managers, it’s an extremely useful weapon.
Fixtures
Below is Fantasy Football Scout’s ranking of Gameweek 7 fixture difficulty.
Who has the best fixtures?
Arsenal, West Ham and Bournemouth face the newly-promoted trio, although Ipswich’s unbeaten run includes impressive draws against Brighton and Aston Villa.
Who has the worst fixtures?
Southampton have a daunting trip to the Emirates but could take comfort in Leicester almost grabbing a draw there. Fulham and Nottingham Forest are to be avoided, as they visit Man City and Chelsea.
Best Gameweek 7 Free Hit
Using the PlanFPL website, here is the best Free Hit team for Gameweek 7.
Goalkeepers
After all the pre-deadline stress for Gameweek 6 Wildcard users, it turns out that David Raya (£5.6m) did indeed start against Leicester. Only to then concede twice to the Foxes.
It was an uncharacteristically bad day for Arsenal’s supreme backline and they’ll surely make amends this time.
Lukasz Fabianski (£4.0m) is our cheap enabler to sit on the bench.
Defenders
Another high-profile blank came for Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m) at Wolves but he’s still the top-scoring FPL defender after Gabriel (£6.2m).
The former has set up 14 chances over these opening weeks and the latter has two goals from the latest three matches.
Picking out clean sheets feels tricky but the Rate My Team (RMT) tool likes the prospects of Chelsea, West Ham, Man City and Brentford. Money is needed in attack, so let’s pick the Bees’ Sepp van den Berg (£4.0m) in the XI – considering he’s started three in a row – with two further cheap names on the sidelines.
Midfielders
Meanwhile, the big decision here was to select Cole Palmer (£10.7m) over Bukayo Saka (£10.1m). It lets the third Arsenal spot come up front and acknowledges Palmer’s scintillating four-goal haul of Saturday.
Brentford once again broke the deadlock in the opening minute of a match, as Bryan Mbeumo (£7.4m) netted for the fifth time in six matches. Furthermore, he’s yet to take a penalty and is certainly due an assist, having set up four big chances.
Jarrod Bowen‘s (£7.4m) underlying stats haven’t been great so far but he’s earned enough trust over recent years to be backed at home to Ipswich.
Alongside this trio is Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m). Written before tonight’s match versus Southampton, he entered Gameweek 6 as the player with the second-most shots (24). Always looking lively, he’ll travel to Leicester.
Forwards
RMT suggests Erling Haaland (£15.3m) be your captain, even though 5.26 million were sad to see him blank. That’s right, the incredibly leaky Newcastle were the first defence to stop him from scoring.
However, he’s about to face Fulham at home, where last season’s meeting brought him three goals, an assist and 20 points.
Kai Havertz (£8.2m) was on the verge of a fruitless afternoon until success in the 99th minute, continuing his streak of netting in all home games.
Finally, in this 3-4-3, RMT likes Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£6.0m) as a cheap forward rather than Chris Wood (£6.2m) or Danny Welbeck (£5.8m). Last time he met Newcastle at Goodison Park, he was unable to score despite a huge 1.58 expected goals (xG).
