Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 5 Wildcard
After two weeks of tinkering, here’s our Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 5 wildcard team.
The International Break provided an ideal opportunity to improve the squad with our wildcard.
Problems
The squad had it’s problems going forward, with injuries to Tomkins, Walcott, Cairney and Zaha. It was a makeshift 4-4-2 in Gameweek 4 despite a hit, off the back of fielding just 10 players in Gameweek 3.The break has certainly brought plenty of big questions in the community: namely how to cope with a Liverpool triple up going forward with those fixtures. This was compounded with a movement for No Salah over Mo Salah.Plenty of problems on the fringes squad right now. An injury or suspension this afternoon could tip the scales towards activating the wildcard. pic.twitter.com/3IZK6niC8C

The BIG question is who stays from that fruitful early season Liverpool triple up of Robertson, Salah & Mane.#FPL pic.twitter.com/6p4OmKStDK
Power Play
At the start of the break, we identified a series of premium players that we’d consider for the Gameweek 5 wildcard team. The ARM defence of Alonso, Robertson and Mendy has served us particularly well, having owned the latter two from Gameweek 1.The big decision was whether to opt for Salah or Mane: after some thought and delving into the underlying statistics, the decision was made to stick with Salah. The next question was Hazard or Mane: Hazard convinced us as Chelsea placed so high in our Gameweek 5 Form Vs Fixture Charts.Anyone got a spare £7 million, so that we can afford the Power 8 on our wildcard?! pic.twitter.com/aiKReITYuq

Kane’s fatigue, causing him to be rested for England, plus Aguero’s captain material, particularly in Gameweek 5, made the premium decision up front fairly straightforward.?NEW #FPL POST?

Squad
It’s a budget look in defence around the big 3 left backs, with Ryan our favoured 4.5 goalkeeper, with a cheaper backup. In midfield, James Maddison of Leicester is our differential, with great fixtures and set piece responsibility. The return of Jamie Vardy should help to bolster his output.Pereyra is chosen given his strong early season form, with 3 goals in 4 games. Watford have had a great start, with a home game against Manchester United the only downside. Ward is an OOP bench punt. Up front, Aguero and Wilson have served us very well in the opening stages of the season and so keep their places, with an excellent run of upcoming fixtures.Getting there with the wildcard, it will be revealed tomorrow. Just need to firm up the midfielder slots…

£17.5 million to spend on 3 Midfielders.
Mitrovic takes the final place, with some impressive statistics revealed in our FPL Report produced earlier in the break. He’s bossing the shots on target in our goals report. Aguero takes the captains armband over Hazard against a leaky Fulham defence. There’s some cash in the bank going forward, with the flexibility to downgrade Hazard or Robertson in the future. Maddison or Pereyra could be upgraded if they fail to deliver.? NEW REPORT ?
