Gameweek 5 best wildcard

We look at the Gameweek 5 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.

The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to your planning.

Fixture ticker

We can see from the ticker below, the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures, whilst the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures up to Gameweek 10 (a six match period).

Who has the best fixtures?

Firstly Luton and Burnley sit at the top of the fixture ticker – this is mainly due to the fact they have a double Gameweek in Gameweek 7.

Newcastle, Aston Villa and Fulham also sit amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Brighton, West Ham, Sheffield United, Wolves and Manchester City are amongst the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Gameweek 5 best wildcard

Goalkeepers

  • Matt Turner (£4m) – Nottingham Forest have been maintaining some great defensive stats this season and they face Burnley this week. After Gameweek 5, Turner can be rotated to the bench to make way for Pope.
  • Nick Pope (£5.5m) – The disappointing start to the campaign for goalkeepers in FPL and the upcoming turn in fixtures for Newcastle makes Pope a great long term option. He will sit on the bench for the match against the free-scoring Brentford ready to return to the starting line-up in Gameweek 6.

Defenders

  • Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) – Chelsea have been maintaining one of the best expected goals conceded in the league so far. The Blues still also have some good fixtures ahead for the out of position left back Chilwell who has been playing on the left-wing.
  • Kieran Trippier (£6.5m) – Trippier ranked as one of the most creative players in the league last season whilst also outscoring every other defender in the game. He has some great fixtures coming up so we could see an explosive return to his 22/23 campaign form.
  • Matty Cash (£4.7m) – Aston Villa also have some great fixtures coming up and they rotate well with Brentford’ schedule. With this in mind Cash comes in after also maintaining the best non-penalty expected goal involvement amongst all defenders in the game.
  • Rico Henry (£4.6m) – the Brentford full-back rotates perfectly with Matty Cash in terms of fixtures. He is also his sides most creative defender.
  • Amari’i Bell (£4m) – Luton have a double Gameweek ahead against two of the poorest attacks in the league. With this in mind it could be beneficial to include Bell who looks like one of the safest options in terms of minutes at the back for the Hatters.

Midfielders

  • James Maddison (£7.8m) – Tottenham still have a good run of fixtures ahead and are maintaining an average of above two goals scored per game. Due to his set pieces and the fact he ranks second amongst all players for non-penalty expected goal involvement he could be a great option.
  • Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m) – He ranks amongst the top five players in the game for non-penalty expected goal involvement. Fernandes is also the Manchester United penalty taker which gives him another potential route to points.
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m) – The Bees have had more big chances than any other side in the league so far (15). One player who has been benefitting from this is Mbeumo. Not only does he take his sides penalties but no player in the game is currently edging him for non-penalty expected goal involvement.
  • Bukayo Saka (£8.7m) – Arsenal face two of the leagues worst defences in the next two matches and with the scoring form they are in it could mean a great run for their attackers. The standout option is Saka who leads his teammates for non-penalty expected goal involvement so far and takes his sides penalties.
  • Moussa Diaby (£6.6m) – Similar to Matty Cash and Rico Henry, Moussa Diaby and Bryan Mbeumo’ fixtures rotate very well. Diaby has also managed two returns in his first four matches reflecting great potential moving forward.

Forwards

  • Erling Haaland (£14.1m) – The Norwegian leads the lethal Manchester City frontline is the standout captaincy option for the run ahead.
  • Nicolas Jackson (£7.2m) – No player in the league has had more big chances than Jackson so far this season. In fact, only Haaland has managed to match him so it may be a matter of time before he starts bringing in some big points for owners.
  • Carlton Morris (£5.5m) – The budget striker faces some of the worst defences in the league in the run ahead. He leads his offensive line and also takes his sides penalties giving him more potential. He could be rotated in for his double Gameweek in Gameweek 7.
