Gameweek 4 best free hit team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 4 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Chelsea, West Ham, Brentford, Crystal Palace and Everton all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures. This indicates that investing in their players could be a wise move.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Fulham, Manchester United, Aston Villa, Brighton and Newcastle all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures. This indicates that avoiding their assets could be a good move.

Goalkeepers

Alphonse Areola (£4m) – West Ham look to have cemented Areola as their number one goalkeeper and his performances justify that. The Frenchman has already amassed a huge 18 points without a single clean sheet and faces a side yet to score in the Premier League.

Sam Johnstone (£4.5m) – Crystal Palace have sustained some of the best underlying defensive data already this season. Because of this and the fact his side face a poor Wolves attack Johnstone sits first reserve on the bench.

Defenders

Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) – The Chelsea backline seem to be settling down after keeping a clean sheet against Luton in the latest round. Chilwell offers much more than clean sheet potential however. The left-back is playing in an advanced role and already ranks second amongst defenders for non-penalty expected goal involvement (1.46).

Destiny Udogie (£4.6m) – Tottenham face a Burnley side who so far rank the worst for attempts on goal (15), the worst for shots in the box (11) and the worst for big chances (one). With this in mind and Udogie’ attacking threat, the full-back could have big potential in Gameweek 4.

Pervis Estupinan (£5.3m) – Brighton may face a tough Newcastle side in Gameweek 4 but similar to Chelsea’ Chilwell is getting into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch. Amongst all defenders he already ranks first for chances created (10) and big chances created (three).

Jokso Gvardiol (£5m) – Manchester City are sustaining the best defensive data in the league already and new signing Gvardiol looks like he could be first team. Because of that and considering his Gameweek 4 opponents (Fulham) he could be a solid first option off the bench if someone fails to feature.

Rico Henry (£4.6m) – Brentford have been impressive in the early stages of the season and amongst all defenders Henry ranks joint second for big chances created. He faces Bournemouth next so could be a great addition if needed off the bench.

Midfielders

Phil Foden (£7.6m) – The league holders face a Fulham side who ranked the joint worst for big chances conceded last season. With this in mind it could be wise to invest other than the obvious. Foden returned from illness last week and picked up an assist adding to his 11 chances created already this season.

Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m) – Everything indicates that Mbeumo could be a brilliant option this week. From Bournemouth’ poor early defensive data and Brentford’ strong attacking stats to Mbeumo’ own data and form.

James Maddison (7.6m) – Tottenham have already netted two goals in every match they have played which reflects how good their attack is. The standout option is Maddison who amongst every player in the game ranks second for non-penalty expected goal involvement (2.89). He also comes up against a Burnley side who have conceded three goals in both of their early matches.

Bukayo Saka (£8.7m) – Manchester United may look tough on paper but the Reds have already conceded the fourth most shots in the box so far this season (37). Arsenal look very strong offensively and their standout attacker is Bukayo Saka who took their most recent penalty.

Raheem Sterling (£7.1m) – Chelsea face a ropey Nottingham Forest backline this week and one player looks to be gaining momentum. Sterling managed a huge 19 points for his two goals, assist and bonus in the most recent round and his obvious progression could mean big potential in Gameweek 4.

Forwards

Erling Haaland (£14m) – There can be no ignoring Haaland this week. No player has managed more big chances total than the Norwegian (five). He also faces a very poor Fulham backline so stands out as the best captaincy option.

Nicolas Jackson (£7.1m) – Chelsea could continue their goalscoring form this week with their game against Nottingham Forest. Only Jackson has managed to equal Haaland for big chances total and also ranks second amongst all forwards for non-penalty expected goal involvement (2.28).

William Osula (£4.5m) – The Sheffield United striker looks to be the cheapest playing forward in the game. It is very unlikely he will feature as he sits as the last substitute on the bench.
