Gameweek 37 Best Bench Boost team

Using the fixture ticker and underlying stats of Fantasy Football Scout’s members area, we pick the best Gameweek 37 Bench Boost team.

In Fantasy Premier League (FPL), an activated Bench Boost chip gives managers one opportunity to score points from all 15 players, including the four substitutes. For example, if your starting XI totals 50 points and the benched four score two, five, six and seven points, a Bench Boost means a Gameweek score of 70.

GAMEWEEK 37 FIXTURES

Who has the best and worst fixtures?

Here, we return to Double Gameweek territory for the final time. Six sides play twice in Gameweek 37, with the ticker believing that Chelsea and Newcastle have the best-looking pair.

Furthermore, it suggests staying away from Fulham, Burnley and both sides of the Aston Villa v Liverpool clash.

GAMEWEEK 37 BEST BENCH BOOST TEAM

The fantastic Plan FPL allows managers to plan transfers weeks in advance. This means we can use it to create Bench Boost drafts.

Whether you used a Wildcard in Gameweek 30, 31 or 35, the epicentre has always been Bench Boost 37. Although Double Gameweek 34 saw more teams play twice, the half-dozen here includes more FPL-friendly teams.

With the Premier League table having tight races for the title, European and relegation spots, the usual late line-up rotations shouldn’t be a worry anymore.

Goalkeepers

Between the sticks, Djordje Petrovic (£4.6m) gets the nod due to Chelsea’s consecutive clean sheets and general good form. After the Blues feature twice in Gameweek 37, they host Bournemouth on the final day.

Compared to a Free Hit, managers need to manage their budget better when boosting because better squad depth is required. It may be worth stretching it out in order to fit Andre Onana (£5.0m) in, not that Man United have particularly appealing fixtures. But he’s made the second-most saves (138) and collected the second-most save points (35).

Defenders

Meanwhile, despite ‘Pep Roulette’ making it hard to ever trust a Man City defender, Josko Gvardiol (£5.1m) is trying to make himself undroppable. The Croatian international has three goals and two assists from his latest six outings, in all competitions.

Pedro Porro (£5.8m) has more shots (47) and expected goal involvements (xGI, 8.45) than anyone else in his position. With Burnley and Sheffield United on the horizon, the Spurs full-back could haul.

We next look across north London towards Gabriel (£5.4m). Although having only one Arsenal defender could be slightly risky, considering their high levels of ownership are justified by nine clean sheets from 13 matches.

Dan Burn (£4.7m) is the most nailed-on Newcastle defender for their two runouts and Jarrad Branthwaite (£4.5m) still provides great value for money, returning in five of his last six games. Everton have a sole fixture but it’s at home to already-relegated Sheffield United.

Midfielders

There’s a temptation to select Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) but, as of now, his status is unknown after missing Monday night.

Arguably the biggest ‘must-have’ individual is Cole Palmer (£6.2m). FPL’s joint-top points scorer has been a breathtaking addition to the game, grabbing 11 goals and three assists over eight recent matches. Such promising fixtures reinforce his essentialness.

Just when frustrated Son Heung-min (£9.9m) owners were about to witness another anonymous blank, he netted a consolation at Anfield to remind them that he’s capable of netting at any time. Team-mate Richarlison (£6.8m) set it up and grabbed one for himself in a cameo performance. With 11 goals and only 2.8% ownership, the Brazilian has high differential potential.

This duo hosts Burnley and Man City, where Phil Foden (£8.4m) should be on show.

He was relatively quiet with ‘just’ an assist at the weekend but three of his previous five starts brought at least two goals and 15 points.

Rounding off the midfield picks is Anthony Gordon (£6.4m). Nobody has more home attacking returns (22) but he proved last weekend that he’s still capable of delivering when away. One assist came at Burnley and it would’ve been two, had the resulting penalty not been missed.

Forwards

Up front, Erling Haaland (£14.2m) answered some high-profile critics by banging four goals past Wolves in Gameweek 36. The Man City leads the way for goals (25), attempts (112), shots on target (55) and big chances (51).

The Norwegian is joined by Alexander Isak (£8.4m) and Nicolas Jackson (£7.0m). Newcastle forward Isak missed the penalty that Gordon won, so it’ll be interesting to see if he keeps spot-kick duties when Callum Wilson (£7.8m) is also playing. He’s netted on seven successive home occasions and begins Double Gameweek 37 at St James’ Park versus Brighton.

Finally, the many managers who’d recently bought Jackson probably did so nervously, knowing he had a Darwin-like reputation for missing big chances. But his midweek goal against Spurs was immediately followed by 16 points at home to West Ham, putting him in great form.
