Team balance
As we can see from the fixture ticker there is a blank Gameweek in 32 and a double Gameweek in 34 so finding a balance between the teams blank and doubling will be key, especially for those without the free hit chip.
The best wildcard team
Without taking free transfers into consideration the team below would give us 10 players for blank Gameweek 32 and seven double Gameweek 34 players. This number can increase or decrease with the use of free transfers in-between the upcoming rounds.
Goalkeepers
Brentford have some great fixtures ahead, playing in blank Gameweek 32 and Nottingham Forest in double Gameweek 34. For that reason, David Raya (£4.9m) who ranks joint first amongst all goalkeepers for points per game compared to every other goalkeeper who has played more than 15 matches (4.5) makes his way into the team.
Leicester’s Daniel Iverson (£3.8m) makes as a great enabling back up option for Raya. He will only feature in the unlikely event Raya fails to.
Defenders
West Ham play in blank Gameweek 32 and have a double Gameweek in 34 so investing in them could be hugely beneficial. The standout option in the West Ham backline is centre-back Nayef Aguerd (£4.8m). The Moroccan scored in his most recent match racking up a whopping 15 points in FPL.
Manchester United may blank in Gameweek 32 but they have some great fixtures before and after that whilst also having a double Gameweek in 34. Their standout option is left-back Luke Shaw who has picked up three returns in his last five games.
Not only do Newcastle play in blank Gameweek 32 but they also have some fantastic fixtures up until Gameweek 35. Kieran Trippier (£6.1m) dominates amongst all defenders in the league for crosses, chances created and big chances created. His potential was reflected in his most recent match where he collected 12 points for his assist, clean sheet and bonus.
Based on the fact they have the best defence in the league this season and their great fixtures, Newcastle could be worth a defensive double up with cheap enabling centre-back Sven Botman (£4.5m). He sits on the bench with Leicester’s Timothy Castagne (£4.4m) who picked up an assist in his most recent game whilst also getting into some of the most advanced positions on the pitch. Castagne plays Wolves in blank Gameweek 32 and Everton in double Gameweek 34.
Midfield
Liverpool sit top of the fixture ticker for the period above. The Reds play in blank Gameweek 32 and have a double Gameweek in 34. In the last six Gameweeks no player in the league has a better non-penalty expected goal involvement than Mohamed Salah (£12.8m).
Amongst all teams in the league this season Brighton rank in the best four teams for goals scored (49), goals scored in the box (26), total attempts on goal (396) and big chances total (77). Although they blank in Gameweek 32 they also double in Gameweek 34. Doubling up on the free-scoring attack could be hugely rewarding so penalty taker Alexis Mac Allister (£5.5m) and Karoru Mitoma (£5.6m) who has collected eight returns in his last 10 matches make the cut.
Arsenal are dominating a lot of the key offensive data points this season so investing in their frontline could be key. They play a fixture in Gameweek 32 and in 34. Penalty taker Bukayo Saka (£8.6m) has been brilliant this season. That can be reflected in the fact he sits as the third highest scoring player in the game so far.
Manchester United may not have a game in blank Gameweek 32 but they have a great offensive double in 34. Main man and standout option in the frontline is Marcus Rashford (£7.3m). No player has scored more goals than him since the restart of the season (10).
Forwards
Aston Villa have some brilliant fixtures in the period ahead and also play in blank Gameweek 32. In the last six Gameweeks they have racked up two or more goals in four of their games. The potent attack is led by penalty taker Ollie Watkins (£7.5m) who has managed five returns in his last six games.
Manchester City have maintained some of the best offensive stats in the league this season. Although they don’t play in blank Gameweek 32 they have a very good double Gameweek in 34. Because of this and his relentless output this season, Erling Haaland (£12m) makes the squad.
Bournemouth have some very good fixtures coming up, especially in key Gameweeks 32 and 34. Leading their frontline is Dominic Solanke (£5.5m). The penalty taker picked up a cool nine points in his most recent game and also helps enable funds elsewhere within the squad.
